Offense is just fine

Folks you are so letting things beyond yours and the teams and coaches control worry your self silly. Yes the "O" hasn't scored many points and yes the "D" has given up even less points so far this season. But there is plenty of room for improvement on both sides of the ball and time to get there.

The simple fact that you are worried about the upcoming games tend to solidify that we are back. Before this heroic 7 and 0 start we were worried about going maybe 8 and 3 or 7 and 4. Now its like we never missed a beat from years past, we worry about everything. The thing you have to remember, especially the younger fans, is that we can and should beat every team left on our schedule. Now that we are "Back", as we all knew we would, it's back to the old worrying and fretting over big wins and if we make the same mistakes each week will it get us beat.

But my dear freinds we are back in familiar territory and one day we will stumble and it could be next week, but it will be a lot farer and fewer in between. We will now be favored by most intelligent forecasters from here on out to win unless we make the Rose Bowl. And even then don't count us out!

Just reviewed again the UT game

If you go back and look at the offense on our first three or four possessions in the first quarter we move the ball and even threw for a touchdown that was ruled out of the end zone. We missed that field goal. Keith Brown lost a fumble when we were driving towards another touchdown. These are mistakes that can be corrected. Remember we have young recievers that are gaining experience. I am not saying we don't need some work but our offense is not missing by much. Besides that Brody missed two other touchdown throws that normally he makes. I tell you Tenneessee was lucky they weren't blown out. We have the best quarterback in the SEC and good recievers that are gaining valuable experience. We are going to be fine. Do we miss Prothro of course but don't listen to all those reporters and announcers that are saying we lost all our offense when Protho left! Look at the game film and you will be surprised as I was. We actually looked pretty good on offense. We just missed some plays. I believe most of that had to do with the pressure and tension on this game. I could feel it even in my living room.

These next two games will be very important to get ready for the stretch run.
CMS will have us ready.

I think it's a problem when it's almost a 50/50 proposition that on target passes will be caught. You can't just pass that off as a lack of experience. My God, their ability to catch passes is the primary reason they were recruited. Funny thing is that it seems to be an epidemic, allbarn and LSU dropped more than us the other night.

As great as our defense is, they probably won't be able to always bail us out. We need to stop putting so much pressure on them.

I know exactly what & who you mean, Earle. I still hear it from "those who are suffering" almost daily to this point in time. Sad.

The general consensus of the people in the C.S. community , as well as most of its local fans, are not (nor have they ever been) enamored with Fran, and they still are crazy about and love R.C. as usual (who is still around, ya know...). A few optimistic students here & there who know very very little of the REAL-DEAL will try to have it be a great experience for themselves from time to time, but as they begin to see Fran's shortcomings, even they fall off holding any novelty feeling for his being the coach. I could go on and on, but I think you know the deal as well as I do.

Did the defense throw the pass to Hall? Did the defense pound the ball down UcheaT's throat to get it close enough for a field goal? Did the defense kick the winning field goal? Point is, playmakers win ball games. Whether that is on defense, offense, or special teams really doesn't matter. And Bama has made the plays so far. In all aspects of the game.
Of course they didn't do any of that. What they did do is give us a chance.

Name a playmaker receiver right now, not a good player I know who they are, but I want to know a receiver when it gets into their hand you know something special is about to happen. Brodie is a playmaker, but cannot make the players catch. So I'm curious who our receiving playmaker is.

We do have some issues on offense. Most of the issues go back to a young and inexperienced OL. The only thing that will "fix" the problem is time and reps. They will get better, and the Bama coaching staff has the right packages to protect the QB and get a few yards on the ground when it's absolutely necessary to do so. In the mean time, we will continue to have stalled drives here and there, and a sack or three during the course of the game.

We have also had a little bad luck on offense. We've seen balls dropped that were catchable. Ever so slight overthrows. Slips, trips and falls on lousy playing surfaces (See Ole Miss game). Those things tend to even themselves out sooner or later.

We'll be fine. The offense continues to improve, even if the scores and stats don't show it. The two defenses we played last are among the SEC's best coached and most experienced. There are plenty of Senior Bowlers and future NFL linemen on those defensive football teams.

DJ Hall.

Keith Brown can become one if he will simply hang on to the freaking football.

Did you see Cryole's comments on Al.com

"Senior quarterback Brodie Croyle overthrew a wide-open Keith Brown in the end zone in the second quarter Saturday against Tennessee. Then he overthrew DJ Hall on another potential TD pass in the third quarter. Given that, the Crimson Tide could have potentially scored 20 points against the toughest defense it's faced to date.

"I overthrew a wide-open touchdown pass," Croyle said Tuesday. "That's inexcusable. If you want to start somewhere, start with me."

Rader pointed out that Croyle went "1-for-3 on long balls, and so far this year we've done a better job than that."

Ok, so now that Croyle and Radar both repeated what I said at the beginning of this thread. Be encouaged guys our offense is not left. It is not Prothro being gone. We have been off but on a few plays but it is going to get on track for the strech run. Why, because the Old Alabama is back. You have to believe when they have the heart of a champion!

Very true. You know, my father told me something that fits your typical fans. In the early 70's when I was just a toddler, many people were saying that Coach Bryant had "lost it" after a pair of back to back 6-5 seasons.

So here we are, drooling over the possibility of a NC. Prior to the season many of us were hoping to end the season ranked and bowl eligible. Well, baring a stunning breakdown, we will be ranked (and possibly quite high), and are already going bowling.

Alabama Football is not about this coach or that one, it simply is Alabama Football.

I saw our offense move the ball up and down the field. I saw our offense put us in position to win when it counts. What I did not see is a problem.
