I wish it was that simple. The problem is that players are not in position to square up and make clean tackles. They have to try for a lot of off angle arm tackles. These are SEC players. They are hard to arm tackle. The defensive scheme has to put them squarely in the right holes. It hasnt.
Our defense rarely delivers any blows. We're the ones going backwards after contact.

I would bet money that the team danced in the locker room after surviving against a bottom dwelling USCe team. That seems to be the culture under a player's coach.. Of course, to be fair, I saw some laughter and jubilation after they survived last season against Arkansas in a game very similar to this one

Alabama only won because SC made so many mistakes. But you have to take it an move on.

But they have nothing to celebrate. They almost lost to a bad football team at home. This is only marginally better than the Vandy loss.

Team needs to find their confidence again in a hurry.
Sorry, but you guys still don't see it. It's not happening. This team can't be fixed to play at a consistently high level. It's just not there. It's not the end of the world and it's not a big deal. That's just a Saban thing. No other coach can do what he did. What goes up invariably comes back down.

The only way I think it gets somewhat better is DeBoer continuing to coach his way and build this team up his way and maybe somehow gets better play out of it. Don't be surprised if this team steps up in big games and then continues to play down to the lesser teams. I think that's his MO.

We can win championships this way but it's a scary roller coaster ride.

Not nit picking, but what is it that you think that others are not seeing? The bad defensive schemes? The undisciplined play? The poor situational awareness? The inadequate coaching? Did i miss something?

I see way too many yards gained after first, second and sometimes third contact...

You missed nothing. I’m questioning the people who work in that complex and watch film every week

I was around when Perkins took over after The Bear. Now, things were different, sure. Perkins inherited a team that had gone 8-4 in Bryant's last season in 1982. He had that same record in 1983. At least then, there wasn't this false narrative about us like there is now. I can't imagine the media in the early 80's acting like we were still The Bear's Bama. Yet, they act like we're still Saban's program when we clearly are not
