Without Iowa State and Kansas, Osborne couldn’t have inflated his win total. So there’s that.
Good point. They need to go ahead and just bring in K-State and OK State and really get the band back together for the Huskers. Although... I don't think they can consistently beat OK State or K-State anymore. Heck, Iowa State would probably wreck them today.

If you look back at the last two years, Iowa State probably would have won the BiG10 West. I think Iowa State would be a solid addition to the B1G10 and Kansas to a lesser extent. Both schools are members of the AAU which is a plus for the B1G10. Like the CBS article said the 8 remaining BiG XII teams will likely scatter in either the AAC, PAC12 or MWC.

Here are some points I have made to my UTX good buddy today ...

1) UTX better realize there will be no capitulation in the SEC on things like having your own network, special horns down rules so you don't cry, 1.5X revenue splits, etc.
2) Don't be bringing your SWC/Big8 snitchin' and cheatin' and dirty laundry into OUR house
3) We already have a ut that does #2
4) If I were the rest of big12 I would find a way to boot you now and make you pay for breach of contract.

It's going to be a brand new day of awakening for sooners and longhorns who think they can bring their big hats (and no cows) into our hood with reckless abandon. OU is much more prepared to play an SEC schedule than UTX but the culture thing is going to be a shock to both, IMHO.

Welcome to the SEC (whenever you get here)! I'm looking forward to having one or the other on our schedule rather than some random directional school.

Whoo boy. Some people:

Texas to SEC likely forgone conclusion, but two things to keep in mind: -- The Big Ten is a better institutional fit for Texas than the SEC -- The Big Ten's big brands don't behave at all like Texas. They share revenue equally and actually care about the good of the league

Um, Adam, I hate to break it to you, but the SEC shares revenue equally and Texas is a cultural fit nowhere.

Some speculation on what happens now...

tl;dr:

  • UTX/OU need to petition SEC for membership
  • 11/14 SEC schools have to say "yes"
  • Date of vote is unknown
  • May depend on whether UTX/OU join in next year or wait until 2025
  • UTX/OU may wait to see if Big12 disintigrates before next year (or before contractual obligations end) so they wouldn't owe anything or much less
  • Fox & ESPN refused to negotiate w/ Big12 early on new deal
  • ESPN may be pushing for a "new" superconference of 32-60 teams that would be outside current NCAA structure
  • Recent CFP expansion discussion probably wouldn't change
  • ND probably won't join any conference even with shift in landcape
  • Big12 may look to the UCF/USF's of the world for expansion
  • Big10 only wants to add AAU institutions - These are "top 64" academic research institutions of which the Big10 wants to be elitist on. Pac12 & ACC also have multiple schools in this list. ND is not AAU but would be welcome everywhere.
  • It's not automatic that non-football teams will move to new conferences with UTX & OU if a "superconference" is formed.
  • NCAA is on precipice of collapsing and may already have in effect.

My response: we may finally get what we've been seeking.
My fear: we may finally get what we've been seeking.

It's fairly clear now that this isn't going to end up being 4 super conferences of 16 teams each. This is going to be one or two mega conferences in a new division. Nothing else really makes sense. The Big Ten isn't just going to take Kansas or Iowa State.

I don’t know if it was said here but Fox’s silence on this is quite interesting, Cowherd is the only one that has said anything about this.

I wonder if the people who work for the NCAA are already planning to visit the department of labor?

Silly question but would this be happening if the Big 12 Network was created a decade ago instead of the Longhorn Network?

Likely, No. That was a massive mistake. I can't remember the specifics though. It required a certain number of votes, and I can't remember how many. What I do remember is that Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M voted against it. So 8 teams voted for it. Maybe it required 9, which would mean it had no chance either way if one of those 4 were not going to vote for it.

But if a Big 12 Network gets formed, then Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri probably never leave. A&M either.

Okay there are two things…

1) Missouri, aTm, and Colorado left because of how the LHN was airing high school games

2) This round is less about the LHN and more about the Sinclair deal (Fox)

So what I’m getting at is that it is difficult to say. Oklahoma is hacked off by Fox constantly scheduling noon games for them
