I lived in Miss for over 25 years

I've got friends there that I keep up with still, one who went to Ole Miss wrote and said he's going over and that he must be a glutton for punishment...my brother who went there hasn't yet said one thing about "who do ya think's gonna win?"-that tells me a lot.
We'll win by about 14. They didn't look past a rival that beat them last year. If Kines is smart he'll show lots of sets and blitzes like Joe Lee Dunn did (that sounds funny when you say it out loud) and confuse the young QB.

We really need this one to set the tone for the season.

I was in Oxford this past Sunday and Monday staying with one of my friends that goes to school there, and everybody I talked to (all students) were either telling me that Bama was gonna "beat the hell outta" ole miss or already congratulating me on us winning...they also all hate cutcliffe now and say he has no coaching ablility whatsoever; "because Spurlock has the talent, we just dont have a good coach." As some said. I just had to laugh at them.

If I ever talk about my team like that, or tell someone congrats about winning a game that hasn't even been played yet...someone please hit me with a brick, repeatedly!

I don't believe this Alabama team will overlook anybody this year. Not even Western Carolina. That doesn't mean there won't be plenty of tough games, starting this weekend. I'll predict BAMA 31, Ole Miss 21. Close, but not close enough.

Dunn didn't run as many blitz packages last weekend as you would expect. He did, in fact, have the same mind frame/scheme that we have going into this weekend.

"Stay in your lanes and keep your assignments. Load the box, make Spurlock beat us through the air."

We've faced mobile QB's before. Case example is Bates facing Seneca Wallace just two years ago.

Personally, I want a *nail-biter* in this one. Give these players a chance to not only feel the pressure of a big play need in the 4th, but to pull it out for a victory. That scenario, would be a huge boost to their developing confidence.

I've seen the notion from a few TF's that we need to pound the middle (btwn the tackles) and I don't think we'll have success (as much as last week, for sure) with this. Off tackle? If Brodie/the backfield can get those LB's to freeze for just a second and allow Hudson to make the corner? Big day for Ray.

One note on Castille. I'd like to see him try to avoid a tackle occasionally, ya know? But, he has this propensity to run over people instead of around them. :d

That's what I've been saying for a few weeks. While a blowout is great, the competition is going to just keep getting tougher as we wade further into conference play. This team needs to win a close one to help with confidence down the road.

They need to develop that confidence that, even when things aren't going your way, if you stay close then you have a chance to pull it out at the end.

I'll take a win this weekend however we can get it, though. Good, bad, ugly, it doesn't matter . . .

Amen! After last year, I don't care how we beat Ole Siss--just beat them. If it is 45-7, 21-20, or even 6-3--just beat them! This team needs a tough road victory and some momemtum to carry through to the Carolinas games.

Just win baby!!! I am going to make a predicition of Alabama 29, Ole **** 13.

I don't want to rely on the defense to get it done, but the defense will have to do it's share of work for us this year.

While a nait-biter would help their confidence, I don't want one this early in the season. I'd much prefer to see us beat Ole Miss and Arkansas soundly since we recruit against them for talent in the area. I'd rather see us win a nail-biter against South Carolina. That would give us some experience in that kind of game going into the last half of the season. But I'd like to see Bama cruise through the early games.

I think we will see alot of the same early on as we did against Utah State. A mix of inside and outside running as well as some intermediate routes such as hooks and slants. I think we willl throw more to the tight end early on. Don't be surprised to see us take a shot downfield either late in the first half or early in the second half again. Alot of what we do later in the game will depend on the situation and what the Ole Miss defense is trying to do. Offensively we will be balanced and give them alot of looks they haven't seen before with 2 tight end sets used more I think.

Defensively I expect us to crowd 7-8 men in the box early on and dare them to throw. The only thing that worries me with this is can Madison and Robinson play well enough at the corner to allow us to continue this. What we don't need is to allow Ole Miss a big play or two early on because that would give Spurlock a confidence boost. I have a feeling we will blitze him early and try to lay a hit or two on him to get him rattled. This will be his first road game as a starter so if we get him rattled early it will give our defense a big advantage.

All in all I look for this game to be hardfought to the end. In the end however I see Bama winning 34-20.

I see your point about the nail-biter and agree somewhat. On the other hand, a nail biter that slips away could be a huge blow to the confidence. I prefer to see them cruise through this one and save the nail-biting for someone else.

Why we win

We are confident after a nice win...we are at home...Croyle has health and experience...it's early in season...no injuries....RB rotation...keep em fresh

They are coming off a game where they could not establish a running game...couldn't get a rhythm in the passing game...QB has no confidence, little experience reading defenses....they are on the road...no Eli...

throw a lot of different looks at Spurlock early...3 and outs
score early to put them in a panic
then run...run...run...eat the clock

Gilberry, Bates, Anderson.....put some pressure on Spurlock.
