I hope y'all will find this worthy of being on the Football forum. It seemed too notable to put on the High School forum but can be moved or started there if not... Thompson beat a team named Auburn (which may be enough for relevance, ha ha) 49-24 in the 7A state championship last night for its 4th straight, and a star was born...

There has been some discussion of "Tua's cousin" coming up at Thompson, but reality is the kid is just a close family friend. He has long worked with Tua and Lia's dad. Get ready for Arch Manning-level hype. He is the real deal. If you get a chance to see highlights, check them out... He was making every throw, including a back shoulder fade, with AND into driving winds that had affected kicks all night. FIVE touchdown passes.

He is 14 years old.

Never, under any circumstances, get excited about college projections for middle school athletes.
Good point and I'd have to say I'm not excited about that. The "dad heart" in me wonders about how all this affects a 14 yr old, even one that's "built different." (And he certainly is. Seriously. The highlights are stunning.)

It's gonna be an interesting few years in Alabaster.

I love the fact that we've recruited QBs nationally and at such an astounding rate.

But it would be nice to see a couple of homegrown products become 5 stars and land in T-town.

I know CNS wouldn't take a local over a Cali kid just because he's local, but if the Bama kid is just as good, and he wants to be at Bama, I think it could bring a passion that a kid from elsewhere might not be able to bring.

Those passes he threw were "not 8th grader" type passes. He had zip, accuracy, and control of the ball ,I was most impressed. I saw a kid in high school with similar passing ability, named Pat Sullivan.

I've yet to see any highlight videos but would love if someone posted them.

I am unable to make any highlights; however, WOTM broadcasts all AHSAA games on Charter Cable systems. Usually games are replayed at various times/days, there may be other independent stations that do similar broadcasting. Recommend google WOTM.

I remember Cokers passion and also AJ's the year we beat LSU in BR when he threw the screen pass to Yeldon. He knew how important that game was.

Incidently, AJ was 2-1 vs. Auburn (the one loss that shall not be named on Tidefans that CBS will never let us forget) and Coker was 1-0 against them.

AJ was also 3-1 (1-1 in 2011) against LSU and Coker 1-0.
