I read an article somewhere on this kid in this game, and there’s an interesting Alabama tie.

The family lived in Colorado until recently, and knew the Tagovailoa (sp?) family. They moved to Alabama specifically so the kid could go to Thompson High School — which is the same high school as Taulia (Tua’s younger brother).

It was quite a move. Aside from the cultural differences (Colorado to Shelby County, Alabama), the kid went from being home-schooled to being in the biggest high school classification in Alabama (7A).

When I was in HS, back in the early-to-mid 70s, the best RB in the state moved to our town and his mother went to work at a local restaurant. Then the state decided that the kid had been "recruited" to play for us. I don't know how that determination was made but, at the time, that was not allowed.

I hope y'all will find this worthy of being on the Football forum. It seemed too notable to put on the High School forum but can be moved or started there if not... Thompson beat a team named Auburn (which may be enough for relevance, ha ha) 49-24 in the 7A state championship last night for its 4th straight, and a star was born...

There has been some discussion of "Tua's cousin" coming up at Thompson, but reality is the kid is just a close family friend. He has long worked with Tua and Lia's dad. Get ready for Arch Manning-level hype. He is the real deal. If you get a chance to see highlights, check them out... He was making every throw, including a back shoulder fade, with AND into driving winds that had affected kicks all night. FIVE touchdown passes.

He is 14 years old.
My grandsons are in the Thompson Band. I didn't male it down for the game..but my son said the wind was awful at times.

Try this. Looks bigger than listed.
Thanks for sharing.

Glad to hear he's connected to the Tua and Lia's family. Having moved to Alabama and being at Thompson, which has been like a Bama pipeline, I hope that bodes well for the good guys.

Kid has a long way to go in recruiting, but you can tell he's got some special talent. He rips those hips open and gets the ball out with some zing...especially for his age.

Yep. I think Lance Tucker was playing as an 8th grader all the way back in 1989 for Fayette County. Someone might have to double check that.
Yes, and the same for his brother, Luke. They were talented but their dad was also the HC.

An 8th grader leading a 7A team to a state championship over another solid, 7A program will cause that.

I'm sure he'll be hearing from a lot of colleges...probably almost all of them.
Vandy's going to want to take a look at those transcripts.
