An Alabama fan calls On3 arguing that Alabama is being disrespected.
Here is On3's take:
My own take is this: Alabama is a team that lost to Vandy last year. A team that got humiliated by a not very good Oklahoma team and could not score more than 13 against Michigan. And now has a new starting QB.
Yes, no losses to the transfer portal. Yes, recruited well in the off-season.
At the end of the day, this team is winless. Okay, so is everybody else, but ...
The potential is there, but they have to prove it on the field.
I am cautiously optimistic, but they have not done anything yet.

I'm a "prove it to me on the field" guy ... it's also why I don't follow recruiting much or brag about what Alabama is going to do before they've done it.

IF we show up and show out and still aren't getting respect, then I'll go on the "they're dissin us" tour myself. Until then, let'em say what they want because of all the reasons Tidewater lists! It's reverse rat poison :D

I wish some Alabama fans would stop acting like any doubt about elements of Alabama's team is disrespect. Like you said, there are plenty of unknowns on this team, and we won't know anything until they start playing the schedule.

Takes all kinds to make a world. I love Alabama but last I checked we lost to a depleted Michigan team in a bowl game...first team to beat us twice in a calendar year. Yea, need to digest a little crow before bragging about what we might do this season.

Yeah, well, I remember how unprepared we looked at Oklahoma and vs Michigan. No changes in game, nothing.

Phil Steele has us at #7 preseason. #3 in the SEC. I don't care, I just don't ever want to see again, the crap I saw last year. I want to see steps in the right direction this year. We shouldn't look completely unprepared in any game again. If we get beat, we get beat, just don't look completely lost out there.

We've been on a downward slide since 2020 in margin of victory in SEC play. Since we played 10 SEC games in 2020, I removed the top two margins from that year otherwise the slide would be even greater.

No question we've been on a downward trend in the last few years!

But, using 2020 as a comparison is going to make most other years look really, really average.

We were lethal that year and handled the Covid obstacles better than anybody. And the generational talent that team had will be generational, especially at WR and RB!

The frustrating thing about last year (and I'm watching last year's game on youtube to refamiliarize myself with the players still with us) is the inconsistency. Bama would be world-beaters one week (Whiskie, 1st half against UGA, LSU), and complete buffoons the next (Vandy, UTe, OU).
You knew that they could play at a high level. They just chose not to with aggravating frequency.

Looked a few sites real quick. Vegas is giving Bama anywhere from the 5th to 10th best odds right now.

After what we saw last season, is that really disrespect?
Hot Take: The failed "Jalen Milroe Project" is most likely to be blamed for almost every bit of this. I'm not ignoring the inconsistency of other players, the OL or defense at times...but he impacted the team culture immensely! JM became the face of the last two seasons, like it or not. His shadow overshadowed everything else.

If his inconsistency left a mark on the Bama Nation's mind, surely it impacted other fans as well.

And, all this goes back to BOB and CNS not having another QB in the cue to follow Bryce. For years, our QB recruiting has been and continues to be stellar, but the lack of an SEC star QB after BY is largely to blame for the struggles of the last 2 seasons.

Shoot, I have doubts about this team, and I'm still not sold on this coaching staff.
I get what you're saying.....really do.....but its going to be difficult to replicate the success of CNS's staffs moving forward. Not that I expect 6 nat'l championships in the next 15 or so years but to have the staff quality he (CNS) had with any other head coach is asking a lot. Not taking a jab at what you said at all.....just saying in a way I agree with you.....CKD is going to have to prove he can get his assistants and coordinators to do what they didnt so often last year.....make in game adjustments.

Some is an increase in parity. There's been a lot of good players, which leads to more great teams. It's hard to stay at the top these days.
Plus throw in the fact that guys can now make 6 to 7 figures a year playing college ball at many different schools......well.....the talent gets spread around a lot more as you said with respect to parity among teams

Top to bottom, I think this is one of the best coaching staffs we've add in years.

Sure, CKD, is not CNS, but the Goat struggled with hiring good assistants after Kirby, Lane, and Sark left.

It's been beaten to death over the last two years.
I was watching LSU and then Mercer from last year and thinking to myself, beyond Williams and Germie, it seems we did not have extremely talented receivers, but then again, do we really know that? Maybe we did. If the QB cannot get the ball to them, or the line does not block for the QB, or ...

Football is a team sport. It is impossible for the team to win if the QB loses (or the receivers, or the o-line, etc.) Win as a team, lose as a team. Last year, the Tide had a lot of talented players, but not a great team.

Not just them but Burton Burns, Joe Pendry, and Scott Cochran* were three of the biggest losses over his tenure.

*I still believe Cochran needed to go from the weight room for the health of our players, but I think we definitely lost some of our killer instinct when he left.
