Opinions on the CGI (Animated) Elephants on J'trons?

Sorry, I hate the animated elephants. The paint makes them look more like circus elephants, and the way they move looks like those frame-by-frame claymation TV Christmas characters. Last year's intro was awesome IMO.

Agreed, they look like goofy circus elephants and I find it embarrassing.

I guess I'm in the minority on this one, but I thought they were a bit too cheesy and over-the-top. I found them (and the actual crimson tide) more funny than inspiring. I liked last year's ringing the bell video with the 'Get ready to Roll Tide' words on it better.

I was waiting for this reply. Thought it would come alot sooner, and I cant really believe there are soooo many that "love it". I dunno, just find myself looking at it and just wondering 'why?' everytime.... I love the intro videos that show a ton of clips from past games. The clips are what get me pumped up, not fake circus elephants. I dunno what to even say about the 3rd down clip...It is looped (terribly), and just seems dumb to me. If I see tigers and eagles with blue/orange warpaint on the JHS jumbotron, I would point and laugh, but then I'd remember that we do the same exact thing.

To each his own, as they say. I'm 51 and I've seen and enjoyed the clips of old plays as much as anyone. However, there comes a time when you need to do something new from time to time. IE: I really like rocky road ice cream, but I sure enjoy a bowl of black walnut from time to time.

There was a time when most thought our coach had to have ties to the University, nowadays, not so much. Point being, you've got to be willing to move forward and try new things, while keeping in mind you won't please everyone. Kind of like the "Roll Tide" chant after a first down. It didn't really catch on at first and I thought (still think) it was "cheesy" as you say. I mean, since when do we cheer first downs for goodness sake? The bottom line is the fan base has kind of taken to it, had they not it would have died away. Same for the elephants, I may not "love them" as many have stated, but it certainly doesn't ruin my gameday experience. I just like that we are willing to try new stuff, yet still embrace the traditions of the past.

The Elephants aren't fierce enough for me. I would ather see one of the authenitic scenes of an Elephant 'Trumpeting' and charging what ever school we are playings football team...

Love the elephants.

Someone needs to fix the trumpet sound effect, though. The one on the old elephant (the "This is Alabama Football" elephant), I'm told, is a recording of an actual elephant we got from somewhere. The new one sounds like it was generated by a synthesizer.

And the new sound effect is HIDEOUS. Poorly mixed in the editing phase. Use the old trumpet with the new elephant and you've got it.
