To each his own, as they say. I'm 51 and I've seen and enjoyed the clips of old plays as much as anyone. However, there comes a time when you need to do something new from time to time. IE: I really like rocky road ice cream, but I sure enjoy a bowl of black walnut from time to time.
There was a time when most thought our coach had to have ties to the University, nowadays, not so much. Point being, you've got to be willing to move forward and try new things, while keeping in mind you won't please everyone. Kind of like the "Roll Tide" chant after a first down. It didn't really catch on at first and I thought (still think) it was "cheesy" as you say. I mean, since when do we cheer first downs for goodness sake? The bottom line is the fan base has kind of taken to it, had they not it would have died away. Same for the elephants, I may not "love them" as many have stated, but it certainly doesn't ruin my gameday experience. I just like that we are willing to try new stuff, yet still embrace the traditions of the past.
