I agree, may aswell reinstate him. After the hand slap given to Brandon Spikes for trying to blind the UGA player, why not reinstate him?
True. After the hand slap given to Brandon Spikes for trying to blind the UGA player, why not reinstate him?
:iagree:On all counts. Not condoning the punch, but I was more critical of the interaction with the fans than the punch (thought that Boise St guy was acting a fool - and as someone said, both got what they deserved....one got suspended w/o knowledge of reinstatement and the other got dropped like a rock on national tv.)
He should get to play out the remaining games and he's suspension seriously hurt Oregon's PAC 10 conf. title chances by not being on the field against Stanford.
I also like that there were specific hurdles that he had to clear regarding class work
I only saw the punch on Youtube the day after, but are you sure that the BSU player was taunting him? For all I could tell he could have just patted the guy on the shoulder and said "good game". I didn't see any other footage that proved he taunted. I just think it's hard to say what really caused Blount to go off the deep end that night. Maybe I'm wrong though.I don't have a problem with it. If you ask me, the BSU player [provoked it and got what he deserved. I thought Brandon Spikes' offense was worse and he received far less of a penalty. IMHO if the Oregon coach had suspended him indefinitely as opposed to "for the year", I think that everyone would have been okay with the length of the suspension.
The BSU player pretty clearly taunted him, he made sure he found blount, tapped him on the shoulder, said something to him and then smiled as he turned away before getting the smile knocked off his face.I only saw the punch on Youtube the day after, but are you sure that the BSU player was taunting him? Beat me to the punch. The BSU player pretty clearly taunted him, he made sure he found blount, tapped him on the shoulder, said something to him and then smiled as he turned away before getting the smile knocked off his face.
Blount came out and said before the BSU game that Oregon was out for revenge after last years loss so im sure he was being sought after...
so in this day and age of trash talking it's ok to do it on the field? but not so off the field? The BSU player pretty clearly taunted him, he made sure he found blount, tapped him on the shoulder, said something to him and then smiled as he turned away before getting the smile knocked off his face.
