they already did this last year. Boise State got a bid last year
Yes they did. Now here in 2025 the playoff has been corrected by going to straight seeding but in 2026 it sounds like there will be auto-bids again for conference champions. Whoever decides these things can't seem to make up their minds whether conference championships should mean something or not. We had chaos last season and now probably more of an orderly playoff ahead in 2025 but back to more chaos and controversy in 2026.

Yeah, I saw where the big 12 commish said to go to a 5+11 format because "it is what the people want". Who are these people that want this crap?

The "people" want to eliminate all the wannabe schools from being involved in any way in this thing, relegate them to their small little fan bases, get out of the way, and let the big dogs eat. THAT's what "the people" want. I'm one of "the people"

ALSO, is it just me or does 7 not equal 12?

The small print says they'll add at least "one more football playing school by 26-27" ... this sounds a lot like the G5 caveats about the number of "football-playing schools" they have in their conferences. At least they have the recognizable Pac 12 logo.

I recognize maybe 2 of those logos, as well. 3 if I squint my eyes and turn my head.

WaSU & OreSU are really trying to say "look at our conference! We have the same logo as before and we're still counting-challenged and the two of us are still here! Never mind that the other 5 or 6 teams have blue and red fields and play on Tuesday and Wednesday nights! We're wearing our big boy pj's and underroos! Pac12 is a real conference and didn't get destroyed (because we still have our logo!"

They have to add at least one football school or they will lose their status as a conference. Unless the ncaa changes their own rules which would not surprise anyone

I once had Pac12 fever. The doctor gave me some medication. I am doing much better now.
I use to enjoy some of their Conf games during the year because they often had games on Thursday and Friday night and late games on Sat night.

But this new PAC12 will never be relevant. It’s G5 teams pretending to be P4 and doing it poorly.

The old CFB is dying a quick death.

Honestly, it's a good conference for those schools. It's a bunch of tier 2 teams in a mostly geographically oriented conference. They will be playing pier institutions and save on travel. One of them will jump up every now and then and beat a blue blood that's having an off year. It's like the Sunbelt of the northwest.
