Just because you are a successful YouTuber doesn't mean you are a good interviewer. Pate, sorry but you are not good at it. An interview should feel more like a conversation, this felt like an SAT.

It's not like he was going to get anything out of DeBoer other than a word salad of nothing. It's why I don't even listen to any interviews he's in anymore. He says nothing.

Hate to compare Coach DeBoer to The GOAT, but CKD doesn't seem to have a point or intent with every word he speaks. CNS knew who his audience was every time I heard him speak. And most of the time the audience wasn't the media person interviewing him. "Word salad" (as referenced by @Bamabuzzard) is what I think of when I hear CKD speak about anything ... since day 1.

But that's all for nought ... Just show me how great of a coach you are by your team's on-field production and off-field character. That's all I need.

Saban was a master at using a large platform to deliver the desired message to the desired audience, and it looks like this is an aspect of coaching that DeBoer can improve on.

Anyone that dumbs down the A-Day game to a glorified practice (Many coaches these days) is going to be very tight lipped. I don't see his personality as one that is going to deliver a message in public like CNS. Those days are over.

This is what I am wondering. As he ages and becomes more comfortable will he improve his message.

He’s like Brady and Tiger Woods. They’re all polite, friendly, even engaging at times but very careful to say absolutely nothing.

CKD is creating a specific culture that he does not want to disturb by some public slip of the tongue. Most critical remarks are probably private between coach and player, probably never demeaning but possibly blunt and specifically address the issue(s) at hand, with the welfare of the team utmost in mind.

CNS wanted to create a very different culture and atmosphere that kept everyone somewhat uncomfortable and on edge. Though he began to change at the end of his career - IMO, to his credit. His world had changed.

This year will reveal how effective CKD’s culture will work in the South. It worked in the plains and on the West coast.
