Penn State @ Bama 9/11

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Thanx for the responses.

Tidedog...have already booked thew flightto ATL. Too late to change now. Also will not have any extra tix, I can only get 2.

Shortround....I plan on wearing white. Don't think it would be a good idea to wear dark navy blue all day in the Alabama sun.

58...That QB was a true freshman by the name of Tony Sacca. He was highly recruited, started the season #4 on the depth chart, and by the 4th game of the season was the starter due to injuries to the first 3 QB's. He actually had very decent jr and sr years. Was drafted by the Cardinals, but never had more than a cup of coffee in the NFL. In that game where he was crushed by Derrick Thomas, he was 8 of 28 passing for under 100 yards. (yes I looked it up, I'm not that good) He also had a 60 yd TD pass called back because of holding, if the ref had missed that, it might have been a different game.

In a way, I think this years game could be very similar to that '88 game. Penn State will be starting either a true soph or freshman against you guys. We also have a jr walk-on QB, but I doubt he plays unless due to injury.

One last thing, Nittany Ed.

If you're at all into motor sports, visit the Barber Museum and race track.

It's a world-class motorcycle collection (exhibited at the Guggenheim a few years ago), and the presentation is incredible. They have some cars in the museum, but it's strength is in the cycles. Last time I went, it was only $10, and it'll be the best $10 you ever spent.

Also, the track itself is incredible. It's a road course originally built for motorcycle racing, but is going to host an Indy Car race in April of this year. Grounds are pristine. This is what happens when money meets knowledge.

Someone earlier mentioned the Porsche experience. That's considerably more expensive than the museum, but I'm told it's the thrill of a lifetime.

Welcome to Tide Fans Nittany Ed. I would venture to say Penn State along with Oklahoma fans are probably our favorite out of conference foes and fans!

I too managed to attend a few PSU-Bama games in the 80's and they were made even more enjoyable by your terrific fan base.

Be sure to invite all your Nittany Lion friends to join Tide Fans and dive right in to football heaven. :biggrin2:

If I am not mistaken 9-11 is Coach Bryant's birthday. I hope we throw him a party that Penn State wont forget like some of the past games . We will have over 101K fans at the stadium. I wonder if the university will only print what the capacity of the stadium is when its sold out and not the actual number of fans. Other colleges state their stadium hold a certain number , for instance LSU never has the same number when the game is sold out. They will announce a new attendance record and they havent added any seats. Anyone know why Bama does this and not the actual number of fans thru the turnstiles.

Thats a really good question and one that Ive asked numerous times
here before with no response. Id like to know that myself once and for all considering I know that UA has waaay oversold games for over 5 years now yet lsu, fla, georgia and everybody else in the sec claims more than they seat weekly and annually yet we only say 92,138. There is no way that there has not been more than that number of capacity since the last expansion in 05', NO WAY.
I mean really seriously why does UA do this what is the point because I dont see one? If 11 other schools are over recording/reporting why dont we at least give the true capacity for each home game? I guarantee we've sold more seats than any other team in the sec for 5 years straight even though 2 more stadiums in the conf. theoretically seat more at the minute/moment.
