I think that's the problem here though, this team has shown they've got issues, huge issues, that may not be solved in a week.

I'd gladly come on here and admit I was wrong about my prediction, I want them to prove me wrong. Their mental fortitude so far tells me different though.

So historically, a Golding Defense has yielded about 17pts per game. So we are expecting him to perform to his average? If he does that, Kiffin will be less inclined to go for it on 4th down and play field position offense.

I just dont see us winning unless our defense plays well above trend this season. And a turnover or 2 by us will be deadly.

I think many, including myself, are factoring in the train wreck the offensive line was against USF. I went back and watched Texas and USF and the oline has seemed to get worse not better. Proctor is really struggling.

When Ole Miss has the ball I assume that they will attack our defense in similar ways as Texas did, with Lane adding a few of his own wrinkles. When we have the ball, I assume that Ole Miss will take the approach that Texas adjusted to where they focused on shutting down the run and dared us to beat them with the passing game. That said, Ole Miss will be trying to do those things with a good bit less talent that what Texas was working with. So at least there is some level of comfort in that regard.

In my opinion, this game will come down to 3 or 4 things: 1) Can our Oline hold up in both the run and pass game, 2) Can our front get pressure against what should be an outmatched Ole Miss Oline, 3) Milroe, and 4) Offensive scheme/use of Milroe.

I figure Ole Miss will sell out to stop the run and make us prove that we can throw ball well enough to beat them. So our Oline will need to do the best they can to get at least some push for the run game against a loaded box, but also give our guy a good pocket when we do throw in order to try to make them unload the box. From what I've seen, the Ole Miss Dline is their strength; so if we are going to win this game the Oline cannot let that Dline dominate them like what we saw this past weekend...

From what I can tell, the major weakness on this Ole Miss team is their Oline. We need for the Dline to step up and really put some pressure on that offense. If Tulane was able to do it (and they were) then there is no reason that our guys shouldn't be able to do so. But if we aren't able to get consistent pressure then we damn sure better not let them run the ball against us...if both of those happen then I don't see how we win the game.

Milroe can't turn the ball over, and he has to make faster decisions. He needs to use his scrambling ability to avoid any initial pressure, but instead of scrambling around trying to find someone down field; he either needs to tuck it or make a quick throw after avoiding the pressure. The longer he scrambles around the more prone we are to ineligible guys down field and holding calls.

If Rees doesn't implement Milroe's running ability into the game plan, then shame on him. The only elite skill set in that entire QB room is Milroe's legs. If Milroe can't throw the ball consistent enough to force Ole Miss to unload the box, then use his running ability to do so. We should find out a lot about Rees during this game.

Hello All,

First off, hello fellow Bama fans, this is my first post on this board. I've been a long time lurker and I've enjoyed reading JessN's analysis' over the years.

Introduction out of the way, I believe Bama wins the game this weekend by a score of 26-21. Bama will rely heavily on special teams and defense. Also, keep in mind that Lane Kiffin hates field goals and I think this could be the type of game where it comes back to hurt them. I could see them going for it on 4th down a few times on the plus side of the field or even red zone where they don't convert.

My opinion is the passing game will be scaled back for Milroe and the run game will include more designed runs for him. I look for Bama to have moderate to good success in the run game which will open up the play action for Milroe in the passing game. I think a bulk of the pass plays will take the pressure from Milroe to read the defense and most pass plays will be predetermined before the snap.

Anyway, just my two cents for Saturday. Roll Tide whatever happens!

I'm not impressed by Rees. His first couple of games were far below what I expected. I know it's not all Rees's falt, and it's not all the QB fault. I PLACE MORE BLAME ON THE LACK OF PRODUCTION BY OUR OFFENSIVE LINE.
If our OL don't play we are in for long Saturdays.

I don't know if Texas is a playoff team or not, but I feel confident USF will be lucky to finish middle of whatever less-than-SEC conference they are in.

This is the same team that - preseason - was thought to have one of the best OLs in the country. That OL would open holes for the RBs and protect the QB... whoever he is. Clean snaps were a given. I dunno what alien forces took over our OL the first 3 games, but this is when our OL performs to their preseason hype. Milroe will have more than a half-second before he has to start dodging defenders.
