Plain Trouble on "Da Plains" (all AU posts here)

He's 29. That would be like Saban hiring Kareem Jackson to be DC. It's only a person to fill a position because Gus will be the one doing all the work.

Major Applewhite was 29 when he was our OC in 2007.

Who is actually making the decisions about the Auburn football program right now? If it is the usual suspects, then the school is in trouble, and not just the Athletic Department.

Harbert has Greene playing “Where’s Waldo?” with Leath in the newly renovated President’s mansion......

Whaddya mean? - didn't Harbert Construction rebuild the mansion out of straw and put listening devices in every "semi-attached" outhouse!

And to think this whole thing was caused by some Dingle Berry in the AU administration who was fearing for his life that Gus was going to go to Arkansas and beat Auburn......(I thought they should have jettisoned him after the SEC title game last year myself).

Jimmy Sexton is the best in the business for a reason. Spotted a wounded gazelle and took advantage.

On the balance of things, it's actually not a bad hire. Young, energy guy, specializes in QB development and a Norvell protégé.

Did you actually keep a straight face while you typed that...?

Is your job at NTYF a contract gig or does it come with benefits?

Pretty much the expected outcome at this point. Gus will take back control of the offense, for better or worse, and we would bring in an up-and-comer QB guy. If the offense crashes and burns, we know exactly who to blame.

And hey, it's not Kodi.

My co-worker, Auburn fan described it this way:

Scapegoat 2.1

He is familiar with Gus’s system, he won’t challenge Gus’s play calling, and he is there just to work on QB mechanics. And we don’t have to pay him much so it won’t cost us much to fire him next year.

So basically riding it out until the buyout is reduced on December 1st...

He will not be the scapegoat. Gus taking over playcalling ensures that.

It's really pretty simply: Gus will be fired if he craps the bed this year.

Agreed. He basically hired himself another Rhett Lashlee. Young and quite often dumb and will worship everything Gus says. In other words another yes man.

No one else wanted the gig, IMO. Gus better win this year and that means beating both Alabama and UGA at home. Lots of pressure to win right now.

Do we know with certainty if he really restructured his contract to allow them to fire him with almost no penalty after this year?
