Marshall had Tre Mason to compliment the read-option. Who would KB have? I continued to hear people say Auburn needed a Kerryon Johnson this year. Who can be that guy next year?

I agree ... i would say Miss State as well but we see how well that turned out for Fitzgerald. Mizzou or Akry should be the destination. Any where else would be to the benefit of the school moreso of a mutual benefit.

Bryant ran for 600 yards during the full season he played - 15 games I think. Comes out to about 40 yards per game on the ground. Nick Marshall was a much better runner, especially laterally. Bryant is definitely more mobile than Stidham so he could do more of the RPO and zone read looks but I don't think an offense can be based around Bryant's running ability like it was around Marshall's..

granted, all i saw of him was in the playoffs last year, but i found bryant to be pretty meh compared to the expectations.
 
If Kelly Bryant goes to Auburn, what does that do to the QBs already on the roster? Why would Gatewood or Willis want to hang around knowing Bo Nix is seen as the next great one?

Watch his highlights. I think Gus could built a read-option offense around him. He's a different kind of runner than Nick was because he's got a little more size, but he's faster than people give him credit for.
 
I have never been really impressed with him. He looked awful against Bama last year. People can improve, look at Jalen, but coaching and hard work did that. What is going to do it for Bryant. There is no coach at the barn at the moment that can do that for him. Maybe that changes if the right reverend Freeze comes to the fambly.

I watched just about all the games the year he started for Clemson up until they lost to us in the first round of the playoffs. I'm not saying he's a scrub but I also wouldn't say he's a great thrower or runner. What we don't know is how much, if any, he's improved as a passer up until this point and how much he might improve going into next year. If he hasn't improved his passing teams will just stack the LOS which will neutralize any benefit his athleticism and running ability might bring. I think he'd be an upgrade over Stidham in Gus's offense but not someone I'd be overly excited about IRT winning the SEC and competing for NCs. A one dimensional offense will not get it done vs UGA, LSU and Bama which are always the swing games for AU..

If KB has advisers it would be difficult to understand why they would recommend him going into a situation where Stidham is leaving with a year left of eligibility. The Gus Bus would be the last place to go to prepare for the NFL. IMO

I'm sure he improved some during spring and summer, but he's also been away from any type of structured team practice since week 4 of the season. Unless he's hired a QB coach during that timeframe I wouldn't bet on much improvement.

If Gus tells him that he is the starter without seeing him in his offense, Gus is lying. If Bryant believes him, he is foolish.
