If this thread gets locked it'll be because it's "too young", "had poor execution", or "was just a couple posts away from being great".

During the press conference Shula said that evaluations
are coming soon and as for what kind of evluations that
he was talking about I'm not sure.

That really is a shock to me but he did say it.

No disrespect to the moderators.

Is he going to fire himself?

I'm sorry folks, but this is my first post since the game was over because I have been very busy reading the comments of others.

This is what puzzles me, the CMS supporters continue to say we are very young and we lost a lot of talent due to graduation last year. While those statements do hold water it makes Alabama look like we have less of a talent level than Ole Miss or Miss State. That is not the case!

If we are so young and untalented we would get blown out by teams like AU, UT, LSU & UF. As a matter of fact we should have beaten Arkansas, (you know Arkansas don't you, they will be in Atlanta representing the SEC West in a couple of weeks.) Not only did we not get blown out, but we played each of those teams very hard and down to the wire.

On the other hand we have struggled against Vandy, Ole Miss, FIU, Duke and lost at home to Miss. St.

How can you play ranked teams down to the wire and let two teams without a win play you close to the end? FIU was missing 18 players and came into our house and busted us right in the mouth.

You might play a lower level team close maybe once a year. That happens to a lot of teams, you just come out flat. Once, OK. Twice, maybe. Three or more times, totally unacceptable!

What do we do? I am not paid to make that decision, but somewhere out there is the next Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops, Charlie Weiss, Jim Tressel, etc. We have to find them.

I don't want to find anyone. That's why we are in the situation we are in. We took a gamble on a coach that had zero college HC experience and it has failed. We need a proven winner to take control of this program, not another question mark.

Shula made JPW fumble the ball, right? He jumped in the huddle and was like, "ok son, I want you to drop back and get blind-sided and fumble the ball on the sack twice in a row, got it?" I mean, that couldnt be a young QB making a mistake, right? Give me a freaking break. Shula had nothing to do with that. Those two attempts at going for two? They were quite odd decisions. However, they didnt effect the outcome of the game. If we made both of them, it would have been 19-22 and a field goal at the end could have at least tied the game instead of forcing us to go for it on 4th and a mile at the end of the 4th qtr. If we had just taken extra points and been 17-22, we would have been forced to go for it and had the same failed result on 4th and a mile at the end of the 4th qtr.

I'm not drinking the koolaid. I'm just being realistic.

It wasn't a young QB making a mistake. It was a JR RT getting abused. Again. Which is the coach's responsibility to correct. We only saw a juggling of the OL during the 12th game of the year and after the poor performance of the line had guaranteed a loss. That is on the coach, not JPW.

I hate to break it to you, but Capps isn't the best lineman. He just simply isnt that talented. You cant coach talent. Capps is doing the best he can with what abilities god gave him. Hes our oldest member on the oline, yet one of the worst. You are failing to see how this dooms us. Its not like the oline was a stone wall after Capps left the game. The problem began long ago when Fran only recruited 2 linemen while he was there...and one followed him to aTm. This is why our line is so young. Loss of scholarships also played a hand in this. Most of the backups for our starting oline are either red shirt freshmen or are nonexistent.

You can't expect to win many games when your offense isn't capable of scoring more than 13 - 16 points per game. It's almost like they (the offense) set a goal for themselves of 15 points each game and have a mental block of reaching anything higher. Each game has been so predictable and so heartbreaking.

Did Shula "make" JPW fumble the ball? Is that your defense for what we have witnessed on the offensive side of the ball for two years?

Let me ask you this? How many times has our bread and butter "Jumbo" package failed to get us a single yard when we needed it this year and yet, CMS thinks the opposing defenses don't know what we are about to run. Actually, I think I have seen the jumbo package lose as many yards as it has gained, but we keep running it.

I will tell you what I saw on the series where we had a 1st down from the three yard line. I saw the AU defensive players challenging our bench on 4th down and we backed down and kicked the field goal. That is not Alabama Football as I remember it.

Re: Post Game Press Conference

You have to run the ball sometimes just to keep the defense honest. How predictable would we be if we just passed it every single down? Football is a game won or lost in the trenches. Our oline is young and inexperienced. What do you expect us to do with a true freshman, 3 sophmores and 1 junior? (not just any junior, we're talking about capps!) No team in all of college football has an oline like that. Theres a reason most olines are made up of all juniors and seniors. Thats how long it takes to coach and develop them. Then consider the fact that we got some guys that are only on the team because we were on probation and unable to get the recruits we really needed. Guys like Capps are in the starting line up because sadly, no ones proven to be any better.

If this is true, this is one of the few posts I've read lately that actually has more logic to it than the primal chant "firah Shuya".

Jeremy, the decisions to go for two most certainly affected the outcome of the game. Had we kicked the extra point in both situations, we could've kicked the FG on 4th and 15 with 6 minutes left and then would've only needed another FG to win it.

There were two additional turnovers, 4 dropped passes, a number of missed tackles, a couple of blown coverages and a partridge in a pear tree that cost Bama the game....

Man I couldn't agree more. For the first time in my adult life i turned a Bama game off early. As my wife and I watched the game, I started trying to guess what kind of play we'd run based on the formation and was probably 70-75% accurate. I honestly believe that our 2nd half offensive problems are due to us reverting back to a "set" of plays that CMS likes. Seems like we get more and more predictable as the game goes on. Anyways, the current state of Alabama football is just sad.

After we failed to convert on 4th and 15 with 5 mins left, we got the ball one last time with 2 mins left. JPW threw an interception before we ever got near field goal range. So you see, it wouldnt matter.

I'm not drinking the koolaid. I'm just being realistic.

But it WAS Shula who made us fumble the ball. Ever since the second half of last years LSU game, Brodie was sacked something like 16 times in the 2 games ending last year and it has continued this year with no end in sight. I saw the same crap on the right side that I saw in Vandy-UF-ARK-MSU and today vs Aubie. Do you see a trend here? No blocking or help on the right until it was too late. I bet if you call in this week and ask coach, everything was ok and nothing needs to be changed....when you get a coach from MSU say that Alabama was the easiest team to prepare for..you got problems...just add ice to the koolaid brother , I'm with ya ..I think I want grape!
