Re: Post Game Press Conference

I hate to break it to you, but CMS has been there 4 years now,we have played 12 games this season. The young OL isn't really "young" anymore.
OL, more than any other position, requires a couple of years to bulk up to SEC size and strength. You can't bulk up during the season - that has to be done in the offseason. Admittedly, from what some have posted, our offseason conditioning hasn't been what it should be either, but the fact remains that, with very few freakish exceptions (e.g. Andre Smith), an OL full of juniors and seniors is going to be much stronger and better than an OL full of sophomores and freshmen.

Re: Post Game Press Conference

Great. We arent talking about the defense...
Jeremy this a sad excuse of an excuse.............we are talking about Bama football defense, offense, unspecial teams, all of the above. If you have watched Bama football at all this year every game vs the better teams seem scripted with the flow pretty much the same.We get ahead, get predictable, wheels fall off and lose. Every time same thing,if you are Vandy I guess you get used to it. We are not Vandy, but if we keep getting sooooo close we will need to change our name to Vandybama.

Re: Post Game Press Conference

Most olinemen are juniors and seniors because thats how long it takes to develop them. You think 12 games = expert oline? Think again. As for the past 4 years. We had great linemen...they graduated. Their replacements are what you are seeing now (1 true freshmen, 3 sophs and 1 jr). The oline lacks depth due to lack of scholarships from probation. It also lacks quality because I'm sure some of them were former walkons that have been granted scholorship now that we have enough to give. When you dont have fewer scholarships to give, an area of your game is going to suffer. As you can see, that area is the oline.
How young were Mike Shula's OLs at Tampa Bay?

Interesting events during post game with Eli

Did anyone notice how long it took for Shula to give his interview with Tom Roberts, Eli and Kenny? I usually listen to the post game wrap up and Shula is on pretty quick. It must have been 15 - 20 minutes longer than normal before Shula came on. I have a suspicion that he was saying something to the players. Maybe goodbyes. Very interesting.

Re: T. Castille post-game comments speak volumes

Folks, if you need any more evidence that Shula isn't the man for the job, there's something seriously wrong with you.

Right now I don't even think the staff has any confidence in the
players and if they do why are things not going right.

I feel so bad for T. Castille and the whole team because they
have worked their butts off the whole season and all they have
to show for it is a record of 6-6 and that is not fair to them by
any means.

I am so heart broken right now and I hope and pray that the
seniors know just how much us fans really do care about them and that goes for the rest of the team as well.:(

...this thread is obviously not about the post-game PC anymore...if there's a sign about the state of things in T-Town, it's that threads are getting hi-jacked by Shula supporters now, instead of the other way around...

Re: T. Castille post-game comments speak volumes

I'm usually not a fan of hearing remarks like this during the season, no matter the situation, but since the regular season is over and there could be some doubt about any postseason, I think it's very telling, and it seems to confirm what so many of us fear as it regards the players' respect and confidence in the situation...

Re: Post Game Press Conference

I hate to break it to you, but Capps isn't the best lineman. He just simply isnt that talented. You cant coach talent. Capps is doing the best he can with what abilities god gave him. Hes our oldest member on the oline, yet one of the worst. You are failing to see how this dooms us. Its not like the oline was a stone wall after Capps left the game. The problem began long ago when Fran only recruited 2 linemen while he was there...and one followed him to aTm. This is why our line is so young. Loss of scholarships also played a hand in this. Most of the backups for our starting oline are either red shirt freshmen or are nonexistent.
The parts highlighted in bold are absolutely true, but it IS the COACHES fault for continuing to put a woefully outmatched player out on the field over and over and over again! Also, how many times did you see JPW get blindsided and lose the ball once Capps left the game??? The answer of course would be ZERO. Tatum may not be all that much better than Capps, but that's just it he is better however little that may be and why it took our staff this entire season and the countless number of times Capps has been abused to see this I'll never understand.
