POWER!!!!!!!

Great! We got power yesterday afternoon, it really makes you appreciate electricity and all we take for granted. Good to have you back.

Know what you mean about the power. No power, no hot water at my house. The generator just couldn't do it. Glad your power is back on.

Is this a teaser title?

JUST KIDDING!!! :)

Back in 2004 when multiple hurricanes hit our area (Jacksonville, FL), I went without power for 11 days. Longest 11 days of my life. Picture 100+ degree temps all day. Just brutal.

Glad you're back amongst friends, Earle.

I've had power for a day and a half, but I JUST got internet access/cable. Been making trips to the Ferguson center to use theirs because the phone networks are jammed and it is hard to stay in touch. One less thing to be driving around for.

Restored power is a roll tide situation!

I lived in central Florida back in 2004 when it seemed like a different hurricane raked the state every other week. After one storm, we went almost an entire week with no power ... and my wife was 7 months pregnant. No hotel with vacancy, we toughed it out by showering at the hospital I worked at, and eating many a meal there. When everything suddenly kicked back on in the middle of the night, it was one of the scariest, sweetest sound to my ears.

I went down to see my brother who lost everything and we were all at my parents with no power. It was great family time together. Power came back on right before I left to come back to Arkansas. Glad everyone has power or is getting close to getting it.

I would have power but a tree is down on my power line and I have a live wire on the ground still waiting for power. Im now running off a generator.

Wooohoooo!
Good deal and I know the feeling. It's easy to take electricity for granted until you're without it, and there's no better felling than when you get it back. We were without power for 3 weeks after Ivan and I never missed lights and air conditioning so much in my life.

Same here. You really do take electricity (and all the things it powers) for granted. I was on the verge of going crazy without it, they originally said it wouldn't be until Wednesday before they got it back on, thankfully it wasn't so!

They were saying Tuesday or Wednesday for us also. However, a couple of friends, not far away, got it back this afternoon. I have a whole house generator that I survived with for around 6 days, back in our Christmas ´98 ice storm. However, I never got around to draining the stale fuel and cleaning the carburetor. For one thing, the rising cost of gas had boosted its daily cost up to around $40 per day. Instead, I bought a (pricey) Honda which can run for 14 hours, with a load of the main refrigerator and a few lights, all on one gallon of gas. As a bonus, the Honda doesn't give one a hernia when its lifted...

Another bonus is that they are incredibly quiet. I have a 1000 watt suitcase type and it purrs like a cat.
