Watching a few minutes was all I could stand. . Those first three minutes was him bragging how everything he has done so far has been unprecedented and how he's the #1 president ever over George Washington. He's the most divisive president in the history of the United States. Trump is a narcissist, so any good deed he does is just a means to help his image.
It's nothing but a political stunt. He knew the democrats weren't going to stand and clap for anything he said. So, have illegal border crossing stopped since Trump has been president? Is the problem solved? If someone gets murdered by an illegal immigrant the next four years, will he take all the blame for it?Dems can't even acknowledge the family of Laken Riley.
It’s much better than sitting on your rear and doing nothing but encouraging and allowing the illegal crossings to occur. When you can’t cheer a young cancer survivor, you have problems.

This was a nice story amongst the lie-filled detritus of the rest of his speech, but it would have been a great occasion for Trump to announce resumption of the NIH funding for cancer research that he happily froze last month.
President Donald Trump made numerous false and misleading claims in his Tuesday speech to a joint session of Congress. The falsehoods spanned a variety of topics, including the economy, climate, immigration and more.
No, this is like seeing a poll after the televised Alabama spring asking people if they like Alabama. Most of the audience would be Alabama fans. Most of the audience that watched Trump last night were Republicans, so why wouldn't that percentage be skewed? If that percentage was correct, wouldn't his overall approval rating match that?
Does that poll reflect the opinion of the country or the people who watched the speech?
And if the independents who watched the speech are anything like the ones on this forum, they leaned heavily into the pro-Trump column.
Those pesky little things like facts just get in the way of "he tells lit like it IS".
All SotU speeches are basically worthless. From what I have seen this morning, this one more worthless than others. Very partisan, full of lies, total waste of time.
With the pause, they found that some universities are using up to 70% of federal grant money for overhead.
But its federal money. Nobody is ever going to look into how we are spending this, right?
The public funding debates inevitably follows these lines:
The cutter cites the waste.
Advocates cite the good intentions or the actual good things achieved.
Now, the above is federal R&D moneys, but spending 70% of a federal grant on overhead leave the school and the program open to charges that they are not good stewards of the taxpayers' money and relying on inattention to public spending.
In Virginia, a school board asked for more in tax revenue for "education," and some journalists found out it was so the school board could buy new office furniture and computers to replace the furniture and computers that were five years old. The school board quietly withdrew the request, which had nothing to do with "education" in the first place.
