Re: QB Neal Burcham Updates

Maybe but, Sims has no real connection to the state and would be welcomed on a lot of teams. Since they are of similar skill level and style I could see either one being picked up by a legit D1 school. I figure Huston Nutt has a few offers ready to mail out.

For some reason, for me anyway, It feels like our top two qbs only count as one, and given our pursuit of a QB this year it seems like the coaches may share that thought.

I am however, more confident in Ely than most seem to be, FWIW.
Do not forget that Sims family moved to TTown with him. So they do now have a connection.

Re: QB Neal Burcham Updates

Well let me clarify. Alex Morris looks to be a major target right now so I'm not sure how commitable his offer will be but he will get one.
Haven't heard much about Alex. He seems to jump out to the top of the list all of a sudden. Any reason why he's even above Lambert?

I saw someone say he did very well at Bama's camp. Not sure how true it is, though.

Re: QB Neal Burcham Updates

Neal has a bit more zip on the the ball and better athlete.
Alec has the size already good touch better athlete than you think .

Given the time for Neal to fill out which should mostly be done after his redshirt freshman year I think we should offer him.

Re: QB Neal Burcham Updates

Hey CS,

You think we can grab a couple of his receivers too? :)
No doubt and hopefully they will be at least two of the top WRs in the country. I am still very optimistic that Bama will get a commitment from Black tomorrow. I am a little concerned about FSU with Winston being in his ear but I think he will pick Bama.

Re: Neal Burcham has another offer

Just to keep you guys in the loop...

Burcham went 21 of 32 for 338 yards, 3 TD passes, and 1 interception, in the season opener (on the road). He only played 3 quarters, sitting in the 4th. He had long TD bombs of 73 and 80 yards. Neal's Greenbrier Panthers won the game, 41-20. Neal's tallest receiver on the team is 5' 11".

Here is a link with a pic of Neal last night on the sidelines. The pic was taken by Bigdaddio (Dr. Jim Thompson), one of my good friends here in central Arkansas. Jim also runs/owns the message board where the pic is posted.

Re: QB Neal Burcham Updates

Last Friday against 6A and higher classified Benton, Burcham was 32 of 45 for 453 yards, 4 TD passes, and 2 int's early in the game.

The Friday prior to that, Burcham logged only 16 minutes of play. In that short span, he was 10 for 10 passing with 5 TD passes, for 230 yards, and 0 int's, in only 5 possessions. Burcham left the game with a 35-0 lead.

Re: Neal Burcham has another offer

Tonight against conference foe, the Harrison Goblins, Neal "Cape Canaveral" Burcham threw for over 300 yards with 5 TD passes in 5 possessions, powering the Greenbrier Panthers to a 35-0 halftime lead. Neal hit my nephew, Scott "Uno Xero" Cavin, on scoring strikes of 96 and 25 yards.

Coach Tribble suspended further launch testing for the night with Cape Canaveral, Uno Xero, and the first team, to start the second half.

Burcham could seriously throw a 600 yard game if he played the whole things. He has sat for an entire half or more in 3 or Greenbrier's 4 games this season, throwing for over 300 first half yards in 3 of those 3 half games of action. He threw for 210 yards, going 10 for 10 with 5 TD passes in the other half game of play. Only once has he played the whole game, that being last week, when he threw for 453 yards against the higher classed Benton team.

I sure hope Saban is watching.

Re: Neal Burcham has another offer

We need a scouting report on Uno Xero now.
Scott "Uno Xero" Cavin has played football and basketball with Burchm since grade school. He and Neal and best buds. Cavin is a 4-sport athlete. He plays the 2 guard next to Neal (playing the point) in basketball. He also plays second base and shortstop in baseball, and plays AAU baseball. Cavin is 192 lbs and 5' 11". He has legs like an oak stump, a very low center of gravity, and is fast, nearing a 4.4 forty time.

He has really blossomed this season, as he gained 25 lbs in the off-season with a daily workout regimen. He has always had great hands, he just needed the extra size to be a really good high school football player. He runs complete routes, and is very good at finding the seams.

Scott and Neal are simply tuned in to each other, and that comes from so many years of playing sports together. If I were a coach, I'd want them both, because they would always make an effective tandem. They seem to always know what the other is thinking.

Do they like Bama?
