We have a lake cabin that we like to go to on the weekends. I have a dish at home and at the cabin. In the past, I would bring my receiver from home and hook it up at the lake and i can receive Espn/Espn2 etc. My question is this: can I order the PPv game from home then take the receiver to the lake and hook it up to get the game or do I need a phone line to get it. At home I sometimes hook up a phone line to order and then unhook it afterward and i have had no problems. Just wondering if any of you satellite " gurus" have had any experience with this. Thanks.

As long as we're talking Dish network, anybody know which PPV channel it'll be on? I searched their site and the program guide and didn't see it listed. Never orderd PPV from Dish, but I was planning on doing it for the game this weekend.

Here is the full answer!

As long as your main receiver at your house is hooked up to a phone line, you should be fine. However, if nothing is hooked up to a phone line you could have problems. Dish is similar to DIRECTV and while you don't have to have the phone line hooked up 24/7/365, you never know when the last update was and if you'll need it. You should be fine if it is normally hooked up to a phone line. The simple answer is this...your system does not use the phone every time you order something. What it does is garners updates from your provider on a regular basis and it also provides viewing information and such.

Therefore, you should be fine.
