While I'm not a big fan of Bone, to be fair, Wilder has shuffled his top 3-5 teams more times than cards in a casino.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Wilder, ranked the No. 3 overall recruit in the nation by Rivals.com and the No. 1 prospect by MaxPreps, said he still hasn’t made up his mind, but that he is down to three schools – Florida, Florida State and Georgia.
I’ve slept on it a lot,” Wilder said. “Today I’ll have FSU in the lead, tomorrow I’ll have UF and in three days I’ll have Georgia. I just have to make sure I think a lot about it. I’ve still got a lot of thinking to do in the last seven days.”
Wilder said he’s eliminated Alabama from consideration, even though Plant teammate Phillip Ely, the Panthers’ 19-0 starting quarterback, committed to the Crimson Tide on Wednesday. Alabama made Ely an offer secretly three weeks ago.
“I was pretty shocked about that,” Wilder said. “They were one of my top schools. I’ve already called (Alabama) and told them I have my top three.
That sounds pretty definitive, but...you just never know. If Ely was keeping his on the down low, maybe Wilder is on the down low also. I don't put anything past this coaching staff. Here is the latest info about Wilder's favorites and Bama is not included. I am removing him from the prospect list.

I like your thinking here... that hadn't crossed my mind but mostly because UGA hasn't been hyped too much in his recruitment. I doubt he leaves FL, but we'll see...Trying not to read into anything but he did say he wished that Ely would have told him because he was considering us at one time. Anyhow I actually pulling for UGA in this battle. Because like others I do believe he will end up at LB and if he commits to UGA it will only be because UGA told him he would be used only as a RB in college and I think that will eliminate UGA with Crowell. I would not be surprised to see IC commit soon after that if Wilder picked UGA. Still think UF in the end for Wilder though but I can wish.
Saw today that James announced at the press conference for Ely that he was down to 3 teams, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. I would still be utterly shocked if he went anywhere but Florida but I suppose we will all know in about a week.
Not to mention Wilder (if we were recruiting him at RB) is almost certainly behind Malcolm Brown and Isaiah Crowell (at the least) on our board. I've felt all along that he was a Gator lock, and still do.Bama is very loaded at running back and I am not just speaking about Ingram and Richardson but some of the younger talent.
I am going to add Wilder back onto the prospect list. It appears that Bama is back in the running for Wilder from several sources.Yes, he did say that yesterday. I was at Plant yesterday, but everyone seems to like to take Rivals' and Scouts' word over the player's. Yes, James has changed many times and there is a reason for that. He is torn right now....and Bama is still on his list.....Just sayin'
Thanks for that first hand report derek4tide. What you and mjstide heard Wilder say, along with the ESPN Insider college football rumors report that Wilder is down to UF, UGA, and Bama, is some very good news.
