Not that long ago I was looking for a good chili for chili dogs. I finally found one I really like. This is a copy cat of the A&W chili dog sauce.

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 pounds hamburger
1 teaspoons salt
1 small onion, chopped very fine
2 cups ketchup
1 oz chili powder, or to taste
1/2 cup water

Brown meat in skillet, drain grease, then place all ingredients in large saucepan. Mix well. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour. Make sure to stir often to keep sauce from burning or scorching.

That sounds like a recipe I want to try. When we lived in Opelika, we would go to a little ice cream shop called Mrs. Story's and get footlong chili dogs and vanilla shakes. They were fantastic. They also had excellent soft serve ice cream. If Streyder or any of the people around Auburn/Opelika area have tried these, you understand what I'm talking about. I wish I knew what they put in their chili sauce, it was really good.
