I heard that Gabe McCenzie enjoyed his visit to T-town and may be considering Bama. Though his still a lean toward the Barn. I would guess that Miami is slipping off of his list...the ACC was a bad move for them! I love it!
Anyone else know who was at the game and if anyone is close to a commit?
By the way, there's no doubt in my mind Bama would be 9-0 right now if Cryole hadn't gotten hurt. It makes me sick! (I just had to say that)
ROLL TIDE!

I would say that we are on the radar with McKenzie now, but is still a Barn lean. Others here on Saturday were TE Jeff Cottam, RB Ali Sharrief, DE Bobby Greenwood, and DE Zach Anderson. Cottam is a UT lean, Sharrief is a Barn commit, Greenwood is deciding between Bama, Barn, and FSU, Anderson deciding between Bama and Barn.

The Bama/Barn game might swing a few of these, so here's hoping we win.

It was great to see most all of the recruits on their feet this weekend. I usually sit right next to them (on the student section side of the fence) and they rarely stand. They were feelin' it too! :D

How much do you think early playing time effects the decisions for these guys? Not that they would be automatic starters for the Tide but the numbers don't lie. We are thin at every position. I would think that Bama being extremely competive in every game (should be 9-0), No. 1 Def, tradition, blah, blah, blah...that tons of recruits would be lining up to sign.
I admit I was very sceptical of these coaches last year. But I think they have proven themselves this year. As good coaches and good recruiters.
Questions, who do you think we'll sign? And do we have enough OL to chose from to replace Britt, Mathis, Martz? Thoughts?

Early playing time is a HUGE draw. There's no other way to describe it. I think we have a great core class already, that has filled several needs.

Go to this thread for who we have already commited

With the remaining 8-9, I think we will get us a running back (Mike Davis, Mikell Simpson, Roy Upchurch, etc), possibly a couple more DL (Greenwood, Kerry Bonds, Anderson, Brandon Deaderick), a WR (Greg Smith, Terrell Smith, BJ Vickers etc), a couple of LBs (Jim Miller, Quentin Taylor, Quincy Marshall, Raphael Ousley- DL?, etc.), a couple of DBs (Jerraud Powers, Chris Rogers (MD soft verbal), Michael Ricks, Kent Richardson), and a couple of TEs (Trott, Bonner, Hoke, Cottam, McKenzie)

And I wouldn't doubt it if this staff pulled a surprise or two.

Seems like the ACC and Fla teams in general have taken it on the chin this year. If we finish strong I bet we will have an even better year recruiting.

I'm only 25, so I didn't follow recruiting when Bear was around. I'm sure there was someone in the media that ranked classes back then... does anyone know approximately what rank his classes came in? I know he focused on in-state players that were willing to work hard over purely skilled atheletes, but I was just curious. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't ranked in the Top 25.

I am only 26 myself, but I believe the Bear could sign as many players as he wanted. Now, all teams are only allowed to give 25 schollies a year. But I am sure his classes would have all been in the top 5.

How many of our current commits are not on pace to quailify? Greyshirts? Will Jaime Christianson get a scholly?

a couple of the late surprises Shula and staff might pull are JC Neal an outstanding ATH and RB from SC recently set an official to Bama. Also, outstanding WR OJ Murdock (FL)'s teammate Conshario Johnson, also a WR with good size and speed is being recruited by the Tide.

Looks like Terrell Smith is headed out of state. He lists Bama and the Barn as low and Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Clemson as med. He has visits set up with them. Do you guys know if we have stopped recruiting him?
Last year we got just about every recruit we wanted with the exception of a few. With the overall talent level down in the state...we can't let great talent leave the state. What's going on?

T Smith

It has been said that he has questionable work ethics, and an attitude. It appears we have pulled the Schollie offer. It is sad b/c he is an athlete that could help any program.

NJHS's Ali Sharrief who is a Barn commit, 3-star RB has softened his verbal to Auburn and has listed Bama as medium. We seem to have turned up the heat on him. Bama Fashion you said you've watched him play...is he over hyped or what? His numbers look good.
How many RBs do you think we will sign? With Darby (soph) and Aarron Johns (fresh) doing so well how many do we need? Should we try to get one stud this year and if not sign two next year?

sounds like this could be the case...it is strange, as well, that he was dropped from a 4 star to a 3 star by Rivals. Don't see that very often.

As far as RBs, I would say we sign one-- would like to get 2, but that might be difficult

Not to split hairs, but we haven't signed anybody....

National signing day isn't until February and while we have a decent list of verbals...nothing is solid until they sign on the dotted line!

ALABAMA RECRUITING NOTEBOOK: Top recruits on hand for UA vs. Bulldogs

It pretty much goes without saying that just about every big-name football recruit that has even a slight interest in the University of Alabama will be on hand for the Iron Bowl on Nov. 20.

However, a number of recruits were also on hand for Saturday’s emotional 30-14 victory against Mississippi State.

re:

Will us not getting T. Smith could possibly affect our chances of getting his cousin, Andre? He's the best o-lineman in the 2006 class.

I'm hearing ...

that Smith's bad attitude is pretty badly exaggerated - caused by a fairly minor episode. He has a really, really tough family situation. It probably won't matter, but sometimes things get blown up on the Net. (Sometimes??)

Forgive me, I have no idea why I put "signed"...wishful thinking perhaps ;)
