Roll Tide...Who says this to you when you are out in public?

Re: Roll Tdie...Who says this to you when you are out in public?

The largest fan base in Pensacola is Alabama and while wearing something Bama, I get quite a few roll tides. But I initiate more than those who start it with me. Roll Tide!

I got a Roll Tide when walking tyo wpork in St Petersburg Russia from a stranger. I had on my Bama toboggan.

My husband and I are traveling the Great Loop around the eastern U.S. in our sailboat and have a 4' x 3' script A red Bama flag flying proudly from the mast. Sailors aren't known for being football fans, but we've gotten quite a few Roll Tides as we've made our way from Tennessee, down the Tenn-Tom, around Florida and now up in North Carolina. Can't wait to get some Roll Tides in New York!

Last year my wife, youngest son, & I were going into Fenway Park for a Red Sox game and I hear a "Roll Tide!" from behind us...a guy saw my son's Bama shirt and proceeded to tell us he was a UA alum from 1976. We had a nice chat. It was pretty cool.

Memphis this past weekend. What was cool was that I was explaining to my little Bamacon how it was a greeting that you might here from Bama fans no matter where you are in the world right before it happened. He smiled so BIG and said ROLL TIDE! back. Awesome.

A couple of months ago, I was at one of the Walgreens in Katy, and a couple of buses of soldiers were traveling from Ft. Polk to Ft. Bliss in El Paso. I got to shake a lot of their hands and say "Thank you." I asked if any were Bama fans. They said one of their buddies was a Bama fan, but his bus hadn't pulled in yet. I told them to tell him "Roll Tide!" from Katy, TX. They were all smiling and laughing and said they would. I thought that was pretty cool.

I usually have one date night a week with my wife, she likes to dress up & go somewhere nice. Well we went to the Improv in Tampa really Ybor City & sat with a couple from Mobile down celebrating their anniversity. I wore my Columbia Albama shirt (the only $65 shirt I own) & the guy said dang I wish I had worn my Bama shirt but I thought there would just be to many Gators. He wanted to relax not run into confrontation.

I told him that down here the Bama fans may come very close to the number of gator fans because so many folks are from all over the country.

Lesson here is don't be afraid to represent the fan base is much bigger than you may think & clearly the the Respect for Bama is there.

Roll Tide!

"Roll Tide!" from Katy, TX.

What's the LSU fanbase look like over in Katy? They are think in K-wood. They may outnumber the Aggies here. Bama is starting to represent though. There were 21 kids from the high school that went there from last year. Probably gonna be quite a few from this class too. The only issue is the parents that wear their shirts or have their Script A on their mini-van Suburban Escalade don't know anything about Roll Tide.

Mostly if I see someone with a Bama logo anywhere on them or near them I give a little "Roll Tide" like in the commercial and take it from there. Last night, at Dulles Int'l I happened to encounter a gentleman wearing a script 'A' hat and I greeted him accordingly. We struck up a short conversation and it turns out he is from Huntsville and was on his way to climb Mt Kilimajaro (sp?). What could I say to that other than "Good luck and Roll Tide".

My friend sent me a picture he took with his phone of an Alabama flag hanging from an office window in the Philly train station. So there's representation there.

I went to the driving range yesterday around lunch time to hit a bucket of balls. There was only one other guy already there on the practice tee. As soon as I walked up on the tee wearing my crimson colored Bama gym shorts, white Bama shirt, and Bama hat.... the first thing out of this guy's mouth was "Roll Tide Brother".

We had a great conversation from there regarding many different subjects ranging anywhere from college football, to the golf swing, to state retirement.

I suppose a big ol' "Roll Tide" is better than "Hello, how are you today?" or "Hi, nice to meet you" any day.

Oh, by the way.... this gentleman will be a new member in my foursome this weekend.

Strong in Katy...LSU that is. That's ok, a lot are my friends and the last few years have been fun to say the least.

Went with my father this morning to see his neurologist. I was wearing a Bama polo shirt. A couple of young Drs were there, observing. One of them, fresh out of a Caribbean medical school, said. "So, I see you are a big Bama fan." He was not necessarily a football fan, but he was familiar with Bama football. We chatted for a couple of minutes about Bama football. He knew about how Bama had won the nat'l title back in the early 90s and was on a great run over the last few years. When we parted ways he gave us a 'Roll Tide".
