Scout.com three-star linebacker set to visit Tide

"I will visit Alabama on January 20," said Roshaad Byrd. "I have visits set up or Southern Miss (1-17) and Texas A&M (1-13) as well."

"I may take an official visit to Mississippi State. That would probably be the last visit I take. I won't take more than four visits," Byrd added.

it's probably conditional. I don't think we'll take him if we have Spikes and/or Stevens by Jan 20th.

I personally think that if Byrd signs with Bama his eventual position after bulking up would likely be MLB or DE.

Byrd was the heart and soul of a Meridian defense that helped the Wildcats reach the Class 5A state championship game for the first time since 1990. A rangy linebacker who made tackles all over the field, Byrd also was a threat as a pass-catching tight end. "Roshaad made my job much easier because he was such a leader among the kids," coach Ed Stanley says. "He can do so many things. He could have been a cover corner or a safety for us."
