If Sears comes back, it frees him up to play the 2 in most of our sets. Next years team may be a LOT of fun
If we get a real center, Nelson can play the 3/4 which is more his skillset, and what he would play at the next level, rather than the 4/5 he was forced to play this year. Perhaps us getting a center is in his decision making on whether to stay or go.

I totally agree with your first sentence, and I would love to see it play out that way.

Based on this quote from this article, I think the main factor in Grant's decision is his draft projection.
“If I do come back to college, I’m hoping it’s Alabama. I’m definitely going to talk to my agent, talk to the coaches, see what’s best for me. Hopefully I can enter the draft process and get drafted this year. But if all else fails, hopefully it’s Alabama coming back.”
I remember thinking, when I first read this quote, that Grant seemed to be hinting at the possibility of his agent shopping him around, if he did not go through the draft process.

To your last point, maybe if Grant does not stay in the draft; whether he comes back to BAMA, or goes to another school, depends on BAMA bringing in a legit 5 man.

Just some thoughts :)

That’s a lot of guards: three transfers already on the hook; Sears and Trelly still in play, and more visits scheduled.

Aidoo would be a quality pickup. He struggled in the game against Purdue, but all the other games I saw him play for UT he was an impact player at the rim and on the boards.

I just don't remember what type of offensive game he has. I'm assuming CNO thinks it'll work with the system if he's really in the mix.

BTW, Aidoo would allow Nelson to play the 4 and not have to have so much responsibility to check the other teams big.

Re watching the tournament I still can’t believe we aren’t doing what it takes to keep Griffen. I would put him at least equal to Nelson if not more valuable. He hit big shots consistently, made good passes (most of time) and was decent at driving. I know Nelson pretty much played out of position but got a lot of time at the 4 in the tournament with LW out and Pringle in. But his shot is ugly either way. I know tall athletic guys don’t grow on trees and his potential is there but Griffen is a proven commodity and growth record. Plus have Stevenson on the roster. Obviously want both and CNO knows what he wants. Just still surprised I guess. And don’t see a better replacement at the moment and with Nelson probable in draft would think a large chunk of money would be thrown.

We need a big man that can defend, rebound and protect the rim. We have enough guards.
Agreed. I'm not sure Aidoo is the guy we want, unless we know the Rutgers kid is going to Carolina or somewhere else. Aidoo plays really passively at times and looked positively shell-shocked against Purdue. Not a great shooter, but at least he can face the basket from time to time.

Yep. I'm hoping the interest in the VT guy was just pre-Holloway, and now we aren't still looking. I noticed the news about him visiting was about an hour before the commitment, so that's entirely possible. If we're still looking at point guards, then that tells me we aren't expecting Sears back.
