Link: Ryan Perrilloux talks about his dismissal from LSU

Should be mandatory reading for all student athletes, especially incoming freshmen.

It clearly shows that it doesn't necessarily have to be one huge error in judgment to get kicked off the team but can be the culmination of many smaller ones which can cost a player playing time and even his
scholarship. Cutting classes, leaving class early, missing meetings, etc. may seem small infractions but they can lead to serious disciplinary actions by the coaching staff.

Unless of course, your head coach is Mike Shula.

PS. The interview is much more fun if you imagine "One Toke Over the Line" playing in the background.

"I think what you have is a little bit of a compound effect of several different things there," Crowe said. "Not the least of which is that he walked in there behind two pretty good quarterbacks and has been a guy that stood there and held the clipboard, and it's about to kill him. That'll change your character.

if riding the bench and holding a clipboard is all it takes to 'change your character', maybe there was not much character to begin with.

All I got from this article is that it ain't Ryan's fault; I mean, he's OCD for crying out loud. Plus, it ain't like he was missing class, he was just leaving early. Geez, I guess he's gotta do stuff right ALL the time if he's ever get you people to leave him the hell alone.

Poor kid is just misunderstood and is unlucky, that's all. <shakes head>

Does he still not understand in order to move forward there needs to be some responsibility taken for his actions?

I think that is a required read. At first glance it seemed to me that RP was starting to realize how a combination of "little" things all add up to a big problem. I really hope the young man's change of scenery helps him, I really do. I definitely don't think it will hurt, and I never say to throw young people under the bus for a mistake, or even a series of mistakes, as long as people's lives aren't in danger for the benefit...

let's see how this plays out...

I agree - Mr. Perrilloux is fortunate to have already been given 2nd and 3rd chances may this new filed of play will be what re-directs his life.

In my reading of the article he is still far from personal responsibility and therefore far from reaching a milestone of maturity. Even his mom said he failed a drug test for something :conf2:

I wish Ryan all the success he is looking for. However, after seeing this so many times, I fear the odds are stacked against him. It is all up to him and to this point, he has not come through. Like it was said earlier, this is all up to him. I hope he makes it but would not be surprised if he does not.

Im sure the failed drug test was nothing more than the pain pills from pulled teeth too. God forbid a kid with his type of character have anything not prescribed.

It really gets on my nerves when guilty people try to make themselves out to be a victim.

Yeah, he's got a simple marginalized excuse for everything. Whatever the circumstance, I bet it's at the very least a few hundred to one that if he were to take just one unauthorized narcotic pill during a three year span at LSU that he would end up with a positive UA Test. I bet that was the only one he took that he was caught for.

It's better to have one decent sized screw up than 100 small ones.

I hope so for the sake of Jaxonville State. Maybe he will take this opportunity to straighten hoimself out. If I were the coach @ JSU, he would be on a short leash.

JSU's head coach is Jack Crowe. He once coached among others, Arkansas. He kicked his starting QB from last year off the team just a short time ago for breaking team rules and misbehavior. Funny now he takes a guy who was also in trouble. Jacksonville is a nice, quiet little town. Not a whole lot to do here. I live just out side Jville. Anniston, Oxford, Gadsden are the near towns. Bham is about 60 miles up I20. Hotlanta is 100 the other way on I20. So, if he gets into trouble here, he is going to have too go looking for it. If he is really serious about turning his life around, he is in a good place. Oh and when Crowe kicked the QB off, I think two others had left, and all he had this year for a QB was two incoming freshmen. So, I guess that is why he went out and signed the big free agent.
