I read the Miles article in the paper this morning and it sounded to me like he might have dropped the f-bomb but of course I couldn't read the ?????? marks and am assuming that is what was meant in Miles' article. JMO

Saban's remark was in reference to Auburn's 0-5 streak. He basically said
that they've been up because we've been down and said something to the
effect of "That S...'s about to stop."

Speaking of the Red Elephant Club, I used to be a member, but I stopped being a member during the late 90's. But I have been considering trying to be a member for the last few years. Would it be hard to become a member now.... or what?? Can just anyone be a member now??

I understand that CNS was trying to fire up the crowd with this statement, but to say that Alabama "let" Auburn win is an untrue statement. IMHO Alabama did everything they could to win all five of those games. If my memory serves me correctly, Alabama fans bragged that the last touchdown scored during the 2003 Iron Bowl was what kept Auburn out of the MNC game. That doesn't sound like a "let" attitude to me.

Any fan here that agrees with CNS's statement is taking something away from the Iron Bowl Rivalry and the players that played the game.

Be aware that what you are quoting is not a statement by Saban. So I wouldn't put much stock in the word "let" being used by CNS.

He said exactly what Les Miles said last night... except he changed the names of the teams around to fit his situation. From what I hear, it was the standard issue from the SEC office for the NSD speeches.

He didn't use the "F" word. I heard S 2 or 3 times and that was it.

Let may not have been the exact word, but it was in the spirit of what was said, at least the way I took it. I would interpret "let" to mean all of the things that happened to put us where were have been the last 5 years. That all comes down to poor leadership and poor leadership is why Bockrath, Dubose, fRan, Price, and Shula were never a fit. Make no mistake, we have a leader now. I was talking to my partner at work about the differences between this meeting and the one I went to two years ago. He just looked up from the computer screen and said, "This guy knows how to be a head coach," and then went back to work. That statement pretty much sums it up.

Rival posters don't get automatically banned here - we like respectful discussion with other fans and there are several from various SEC schools that have posted here for years.

Anytime you could have done things to prevent something from happening, you LET it happen. There are things we could have done different to prevent Auburn from beating us and we didn't therefore we LET it happen.

Dennis Franchione "Let" Auburn win his last Iron Bowl by not showing up for any practice sessions or team meetings during Iron Bowl week. Being preoccupied with getting things in order with aTm was more important than beating Auburn that week. Perhaps fRan thought losing to Auburn would lessen the sting of his departure but all it really did was start the cycle.

Mike Shula "Let" Auburn win by not doing anything about the right tackle situation. You don't "Let" a player get beat that many times without trying something different and fast.

In essence Alabama "Let" a lot of teams beat us because we didn't fight the NCAA tooth and nail and the first cheating remark that comes from an Aubie will be his last considering that cheating cesspool of a church slush fund ran by Rev. Chett Auburn has. Congratulations for finding a loop hole in the rules and hope it turns into a noose one day soon for Auburn.

I don't mind Aubies posting on our forum. We have a couple of good ones who post frequently. One has been banned three or four times under different user names but has matured under his present username. The problem we have had with Aubies is most have only come to tidefans to make some drive-by remark not caring if they get banned or not. That same statement goes for several other rival posters who have lasted under 10 posts. We do not tolerate smack talk or ignorant sparring among our members. Disagree using email or PM if you must but keep the personal battles off the boards.
