School Nicknames!!......Do you know?

Let have a little quiz.

I have in front of me a list of the top 11 most common nicknames for schools.
Example. A school near me is Etowah and their nickname is the Blue Devils.

If you have seen this or know this you need to let the others have some fun!

Please only guess one name and I'll tell you if it is in the top 11...

C'mon now. What's you school's nickname?
 
Well my high school is home to the Black Bears, which I doubt made the Top 11. I'll go with either the Bulldogs or Indians.

Oh! you requested that we keep our answer to only one. In that case, I'll be politically incorrect and go with the Indians.

Tidehawk - Tigers was #1 on the list!

Bamatusc - you were on the list also....Yellow Jackets were at #7.

Bearfacts - you get a cookie for finding Indians at #8.

I.A.Spartacus - I am so proud of you for finding Wildcats at #3!

I'll go ahead and give you a list of all the names mentioned.

Here they are in order with the number of schools with that nickname in parentheses.

#1 Tigers (49 schools) - tidehawk, you'll be surprised at #4.

#2 Bulldogs (33 schools) - bearfacts, you should have guessed bulldogs.

#3 Wildcats - I.A.SPARTACUS, you also mentioned two on this list....tune in!

#4 Panthers - tidehawk, you should have went with your own team.

#5 Eagles - I.A.SPARTACUS, getting #3 & #5 isn't bad.

#6 ?????? - we haven't gotten this one yet.

#7 Yellow Jackets - Bamatusc, have you gotten over tidehawk stealing your answer?

#9 ??????? - someone has to know this.

#10 ?????? - One more to go.

Let's see, if Eagles is a popular choice, then Hawks should rank up there, also.

I would think Mustangs would be a popular choice out West.

Sorry about not answering your earlier question, I did not read it until now.
I don't have a list of the worst or most unpopular, the latter would be hard because there are several names that are only used once.

I'll give a list to some of the more unusual names and you guys can vote on it....is that o.k.?

By the way, I really like the nickname for Alabama School for the Deaf - Silent Warriors...pretty neat huh?

You guessed Lions right!
Lions come in at #6 with 14 schools having that name.

TSUBAMAFAN gets the very last one (and my alma's nick) REBELS!
#11 is Rebels with 9 schools!

Sorry bear facts, you missed on your two.

C'mon people, we only have a couple left!
