Defrocked scout details relationship with Oregon, Kelly - College Football - Rivals.com

Ouch, that is not looking good for Oregon at all that is for sure.

"However, he now says Oregon did not pay him for his work as a traditional scout, but for his influence with top recruits and their families and his ability to usher prospects through the signing and eligibility process. That dual role as mentor to prospects and paid contractor to Oregon is believed to be a focus of the NCAA probe."'

and

"Lyles orchestrated recent visits for multiple recruits to Oregon, including Seastrunk, eventual Oregon signee Dontae Williams, eventual Auburn signee Trovon Reed and recruit Matt Sherrard. Lyles chose an Oct. 31, 2009 game against USC for a visit by Williams, Reed, Sherrard and himself, reviewing and arranging the playersâ schedules to ensure he and the players could make the trip together."

oregon got some 'splainin to do

You have to wonder if Chip Kelly may be on his way out the door ala Jim Tressel. Who would have thought, in say December 2010, that both Tressel and Kelly would be gone before the 2011 season? Another problem when you play around with these "street agent" types is that if you stab them in the back they will come after you with a vengeance.

Wow, hand written notes to Lyles from the athletic department. Reminds me of those letters from that 30 for 30 special ESPN did on SMU.

Skimmed the excellent Yahoo/Oregon story. 1st reaction: new Nike uniform opportunities in either Convict Stripe or Roadcrew Orange. #BadNews

Those letters. Good Lord in Heaven.

You really have to wonder what's going on in Chip's head.

Now, who's next in this whole Lyles fiasco? Many of the folks on this board who said Cam might be looked upon as an afterthought for the barn may have been right.

Canzano: Willie Lyles tells how Oregon left him holding the bag in recruiting scandal | OregonLive.com

Lyles said he advised Kelly that Seastrunk’s mother did not want her son to attend Oregon, and would have to be worked around. “His mother was crazy with them. Just crazy talk to the (Ducks) coaches. It was unbelievable.”

Also, Lyles told Kelly, Seastrunk loves Air Jordan sneakers.

“He’s a complete Jordan-head,” Lyles said. “That’s one of the big things he liked. So Oregon had a pair of Jordans for him --- only one of two pairs ever made.”

And of course, Lyles denies that...

I visited the Oregon Scout board for a little while. They remind me a lot of the OSU boards and the Tressel mess, denial, denial and more denial. They've about convinced each other that nothing much will come of this and they'll only get a slap on the wrist. I can kind of understand their reluctance to see it for what it is. They've spent most of their existence being a bit-player on the stage of CFB and then they all of a sudden, just when they start being a "playah" on the big stage, this blows up in their faces. Looks like they deserve it though.

Can't wait til it's allbarn's turn in the barrel.
