Ole Miss is #1 in the SEC?#2 in the SEC, at that. Not too bad...
I dare say that all the football players, even the non-NFL ones, have been given more than an even chance to earn their degrees. Some fail to take advantage of that opportunity. But then again, they are the ones to suffer for that failure.from the story said:"The real tragedy for this team [Texas] is that only 40 percent of its players, and only 27 percent of its black players, will graduate. Texas' football players put the University on the national stage. And what do they get in return? Besides the precious few that will make it to the NFL, most will leave school without a degree and with few career prospects."
I agree. In fact, the article says:I don't think it's saying we're #15 in the country, it's saying out of the top 25 teams in the final BCS ranking, we're #15, which would put us in the lower half, not all that great.
article said:Meanwhile, this year's top football contenders -- Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Alabama -- wouldn't even come close to competing.
That's #2 out of the 4 SEC teams in the BCS top 25. I'm pretty sure that Vanderbilt would beat us if they were on the list.#2 in the SEC, at that. Not too bad...
