He sent me an autographed book one time. The book was great. Shaun is such a good guy. We need more like him.

IMO, along with Derek Henry, the two greatest RBs in Alabama history. The most intelligent runner I’ve ever seen. Not fast but rarely caught from behind. The best at setting up blocks. Was incredibly clever in the open field. When running for a TD or first down he ran with great power. Almost never fumbled.

And a great guy.

When Alabama entered the dark ages when he left he was almost the only positive advocate for the Tide on the national stage.

Every time I see an article on him they mention his 14 kids and it always blows my mind. So many kids it’s almost creepy

I once knew a family physician that had 12 kids ranging in age from young adults to toddlers. Several of these kids were adopted. He was a tremendous man of faith very similar to Shaun Alexander.

I asked him “why so many and how do you manage that many kids?” His reply was “My faith teaches me that children are a blessing. In good times, they are a blessing. In hard times they are a blessing. Whenever we considered having another child or adopting another child, we asked ourselves if we had enough room in our heart and home for more blessings from God? “

The greatest blessing he said was “it taught my children how to be selfless. The older children learn great lessons about family, loving each other and taking care of each other. My younger kids learned to respect their older siblings and developed an almost unshakable bond”.
