Hey everyone, hope you are having a good day. Here is my dilemma -

I registered for college today (not Bama), and I ended up being forced to take some night classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Problem: Bama plays tomorrow night!!! I have a party with some of my best friends that are huge Bama fans (me and him are unbeaten when we attend or watch games together, btw) tomorrow night, and if I go to this class I will miss the first quarter at best, and definitely won't be able to make the party. It's my first class session for that particular class, so it'll probably just be the teacher talking about the Syllabus and showing us the lab. Any thoughts on the matter?

ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Of course you skip! You do not miss the NC game for the first day of a class, IMO. You're right, the instructor will go over the syllabus and that will be about it.

If you fail because of missing the first class, you didn't deserve to pass anyway.

Well if you have to attend class in central to north Alabama you may not have to skip. Alot of schools and classes are begining to cancel for tomorrow and friday.

SKIP!!!!! You don't wan to miss any of this. Win or lose these are memories you can't get back. Who knows when the next time we get this chance, it has been 17 years since the last opportunity like this. Saying that I do expect us to have more chances in the years to come with what Coach Saban has built us up to so far.

Haha, I'm glad everyone is in agreement here. I talked to my Dad and he is very serious about my academics...he told me "Email your instructor and skip". Well, now the problem is that I am not sure who my instructor is as it says "staff" on my paper. Looks like I'll be skipping two classes tomorrow and heading home tonight. My school has an attendance policy that is - 6 skips = okay, 7 = failed class. They might even cancel class due to weather anyway.

I agree on my thought process. I'm an A student and don't want to get off to a bad start this semester. It is obvious my priorities are not in order :). I'll be going to the party. It's funny how everyone is in agreement for this, I expected this to be 50/50.

Of course you skip...but let me relate a quick story of when I was a student at UA.

Bama was opening the season against Missouri in 1976 on Monday night, national television.

Of course we were all heading to Birmingham for the game.

I honestly had a professor who scheduled a pop quiz for the Tuesday morning after the game. The whole class protested and he shook his head and said..."Football is not important"..

That's the honest to goodness truth!!

SACRILEGE!!!

sip

School is for suckas.

Not only will there probably not be class tommorrow night anyway because of the snow. (well, depending on where you are.) But I'd be willing to bet your prof. will let class out early anyway just because it's the first day. If you want to go just so you don't feel guilty, then just go for the first hour and leave. That way you get the syllabus, get some info, and leave during one of the 10 minute breaks they always give you during night class.

The quicker you fall behind,,,, the more time you have to catch up.

If it weren't for the fact that is was the first class meeting, I might think otherwise. I mean, if you had a test, or if you weren't doing so well in the class, I'd say go.

You've been an A student. Missing the first class is not going to hurt you and weighted against missing the NC game, our first in 17 years, as someone else said - No Brainer.
