It worked last week to start a new thread for good luck, so I'm doing it again. Counting our new neighbors from out West, 9 of the 16 slots are from the SEC. Wouldn't be surprised to see 5/6 make it to OKC. I kinda feel like FSU and Arizona were a bit down this year, but they've made it and we beat both of them.
3 pm CT on ESPN2 Friday- will have to sneak it in at work.

Looking at all the year long stats comparisons last night and I feel like I'm reading about a 2003 Alabama vs LSU pregame. Vols are really having an incredible year with two ACES and a lot of big bats. In that series in t-Town though, Beav pitched great and Briski very well but we have to score more than one run a game.

White leads off and ends up on third after a single to left is mis-played by the left fielder. She scores on a wild pitch. That is followed by 2 K's and a ground out. 1-0 BAMA after half an inning.

Beaver on the mound for BAMA. 1 pitch, 1 out, 2nd pitch - 2 outs. Single off the wall in left. (We got it in quick so no advance). Fly out to right field. BAMA up 1-0 after 1 complete. But, as was mentioned by TideATL, it will take more than 1 run to beat Tennessee, especially at their place.

Giles - HBP to start the second. Call was originally no HBP but changed on review. Giles bunted to 2nd - 1 out. Heivilin K's, 2 down. Valentine hits chopper up the middle, and beats the throw to first. Giles doesn't stop running and scores. 2-0 BAMA. Valentine steals second on a bobbled pitch. Valentine takes 3rd on wild pitch. Broadfoot lines out to right field. Hit it hard but right at the right fielder. 2-0 Bama after 1.5.

Top of Third: White beats out infield hit. Third baseman misplays soft dribble my Prewitt. BAMA has 1st and 2nd, no outs. Cahalan - ground out, but moves the runners to second and third. Johnson grounds out on hard shot to third. Runners can't advance. 2 down. Giles K's, no score for BAMA. Still 2-0 BAMA.

Bottom of the third. Soft liner to SS, 1 down, pop up to 1st in foul ground, 2 down, foul ball down right field line, should have been caught but 2nd and RF collide, but Beaver gets her first K. 2-0 BAMA after 3 complete.

Top of 4: Lead off walk by Dowling. Heivilin K's, (missed on 2 bunt attempts), 1 out. Dowling steals second. (could have been batter interference as there was no throw). Valentine grounds out to pitcher, runner to third. 2 down. Broadfoot pops out to SS. Still 2-0 BAMA. We could use a few hits by BAMA.

Bottom of 4: Lead off K for Beaver, 1 down. Ground out to SS, 2 down. Ground out to P. 3 down. The Beav is pitching great so far. Wish we would give her a little more help. 2-0 BAMA afrt 4 complete.

Top of 5: White grounds out to 2nd, 1 down. Prewitt flies out to LF, 2 down. Cahalan K's on wild pitch in the dirt, but beats the throw out to first. Don't know why she would swing at that ugly pitch. Johnson strikes out on low pitch. We're drifting back to watching good pitches go by and swinging at bad ones. Still 2-0 BAMA.

Bottom of 5: Lead off walk. Runner steals second. Line out to CF, 1 down. Pop up to 2nd, 2 down. Routine ground ball to 2nd, ball falls out of Heivilin's hand on the throw. Runner on second keeps running and is called safe at the plate. Under review. Ruling is safe, 2-1 BAMA. We should have been out of the inning. 2 run home run to CF. BAMA now down 3-2. Briski coming on to replace Beaver. Beaver deserved a much better fate here. Ground to pitcher to get out of the inning. BAMA now down 3-2, going to the 6th.

Top of 6: Lead off single to CF for Giles. Tennessee changing pitchers, bringing in Godshall. We couldn't touch her back in Tuscaloosa. Dowling hits one off the wall down the LF line, Giles out trying to take 3rd. 1 down. Esman pinch hits - and singles up the middle. Dowling has to hold at 3rd. 1 down, 1st and 3rd for BAMA. Valentine K's, 2 down. Broadfoot flies out to LF. We can't get a timely hit to save our life. And we look at way too many good pitches. Tennessee lead 3-2, going to bottom of 6.

Bottom of 6: Briski on the mound, ground out to SS, 1 down. K looking, 2 down. Single up the middle. Hit a pitch almost in the dirt. Fly out to LF. BAMA down to their last chance.

Top of 7: BAMA's last chance. We have left 7 on base so far, 6 in scoring position. Just one timely hit and we're probably still leading this game. Let's see if we've got any miracles in us. Top of the order coming up:

White, lines out to CF. Centerfielder was playing way in, probably 15 feet past the dirt. Prewitt K's looking, 2 down. Cahalan flies out out left field. Ball game. Tennessee wins 3-2. Our pitchers deserved much better, but got no help.

In review, BAMA had plenty of chances in this game but could not get a timely hit. We left 6 in scoring position. We looked like regular season BAMA at the plate today, ie, we can't hit worth a poop against good teams. Our pitchers threw great. Tennessee only had 3 hits, including the 2 run dinger, but we let so many scoring opportunities go by because we couldn't get a timely hit. With even just 1 timely hit, we probably have 4 runs and might win the game. Let's see if we can bounce back.

Sounds like we need a better hitting coach.

Has that been discussed already...?

Great stuff Krymson- we need Briski to pitch like she did in that epic LSU tourney game. But can’t expect UcheaT to make mistakes like they did today. Gotta score 4-5 runs at least!

Regarding timely hitting, consider this: Tennessee got their lead off hitter on base 1 time in this game, and she was able to steal second. Even with that, we got the next two out, and should have had the third out, but we drop the ball trying to throw it to first. The runner on second scores. That is followed by the two run home run. So, just about the only time Tennessee had runners on base they found a way to score. We got our 2 runs early, but had multiple opportunities to bring in more runs, but nothing. Our pitchers deserved to win today, but got no help.
