USC received an LOI from the NCAA today. This might be enough to push Clowney completely our way IMO.

NCAA initiating formal investigation into USC football program | The Post and Courier, Charleston SC - News, Sports, Entertainment
South Carolina officials confirmed Thursday afternoon that it has received an official letter of inquiry from the NCAA, indicating the governing body is initiating a formal investigation into the football program.

The NCAA had already been looking into the matters of several players, including three – cornerback Chris Culliver, left tackle Jarriel King and tight end Weslye Saunders – who remained sidelined, pending rulings on their issues.

The NCAA first spoke with Saunders about possible improper contact with agents, including a spring break trip to Miami.

From there, the investigation then branched into the NCAA examining several players’ living arrangements at The Whitney Hotel.

When the NCAA sniffs, they usually find something. This is excellent news for our chances with Clowney.

And the players are living in a hotel???

This could be a huge boost for recruiting.. Who knows, maybe UGA will get one as well and Crowell will come on over too..

I don't like the NCAA sniffing around in the SEC. Even if it's a rival and even if there could be some positive recruiting fallout from it.
I agree. Bama's recruiting will be just fine without other SEC schools getting ripped by the ncaa.
I don't really feel the same way about UcheaT and AlbUrn but it isn't because of recruiting.

The agent party down in South Beach (which Saunders was supposedly involved in), then the hotel living arrangements for several players.

Again I say... players living in a hotel??? Their dorms must seriously suck if they prefer living in a hotel. Whats worse is that there is NO WAY coaches on the South Carolina staff don't know about that... Lemme give you a for instance:

Ring, ring...
Hotel: "Hello, Hampton Inn, How may I help you?"
Spurrier: "Ya, Steve Spurrier... my boys are late for practice."
Hotel: "Yes sir, I understand we are having troubles with our wake-up calls and we're doing everything we can to fix it."
Steve: "Transfer me to there room. I'll talk to 'em myself."
Hotel: "Yes sir, what room number?"

I could go on...

All kids these days have cell phones. But I agree, there is no way someone on that coaching staff didn't know about their living arrangements. Spurrior may have had his head buried in some golf course sand pit but someone knew.

Living in a hotel would be pretty awesome. Free breakfast every morning, free maid service, free cable, free electricity, large and diverse selection of womenz... I could go on lol.

Not bad and think having a wake up call in the morning, get up have a good breakfast, and than have a limo take you to preseason practice and pick you back up. Not hard to have them sniff around when players are riding in limos. I read in one of their local papers that is what might have started the concern with the hotel. I guess the staff did not think anything of the players arriving in limos.
