I haven't checked, but I bet you can get one of those on e-bay fairly cheap. Certificate of Authenticity no problem.

All 'The Short Horns' have to do is lower their expectations a little more, and Mack will be coach for life.
(He may already be).

From my vantage point, it appears that mediocrity is the new norm at The Little 'T'...
Yep... It's official... Texas sucks.
(Now everyone knows)

Kind of makes the Aggies look like rocket scientist for jumping to the SEC.

'if only Colt hadn't got hurt'... ;)

But never fear!!!! They're gonna throw a gazillion dollars at Nick Saban, and he's gonna leave Alabama high and dry and come build the greatest ever dynasty at TEXAS!!!!

Oh, I'm sorry, that's October 2011 message board flashbacks talking. Never mind!!!

I thought you got a ring for any bowl win. I went to school with a guy who played at Marshall and he had rings for whatever minor bowls they won.

Back when we had only a handful of bowls that were played on New Year's day, and before the NCAA limited the dollar value of bowl swag gifts, it was not uncommon for the host bowl to provide rings, watches and such to the participants, win or lose.

The true sign of accepting mediocrity is giving a coach an extension and huge bucks when he LOSES a game closer than is presumed he should have (insert Charlie the Hutt here).

Sounds very similar to giving out "participation trophies" in little league...

For whats its worth, Im glad my sons team got a partiipation trophy for the little league season.

The team that won the league got the big trophy for being the best, and all kids knew who won...and we all celebrated thier on field success...

but, there were a lot of other kids who put a lot of work into the season as well, and sports is supposed to be about building character, learning to be part of a team...not just winning... especially at a young age.

He and his teammates worked thier butts off all year long, put in long hours of pracrtice...rain or shine. They played hard together to get better as the season went on, made some great and hopefully lasting friendships, and hopefully developed an attitude of it not being just about winning, but working hard as a group to achieve a goal. I think they accompliahed that objective, if not the league trophy they wanted so badly...

That little 'participation' trophy will give the boys a momento to remember all the hard work, sweat and tears that went into the season years from now. Its not all just about winning, its about developing as young men, learning to play together as a team, and building positives out of competing and a love of sports. They accomplished that, and he and his teammates very proud of thier "participation" trophies.

exactly wheres the problem with that?

So Mack Brown wants to use our program as a model program. Well, Coach Brown, I know you're losing it and the Longhorns haven't been worth a flip since we demoralized you a few years ago, but here's a tip. When we went 10-3 a few years ago, we were DEPRESSED. We did not give generic rings to celebrate our mediocrity. We did not give high-fives or backslaps or any of that. We demolished Michigan State. Then we got back to work. By the way, how's Colt McCoy's brother working out for you?
