So is FAU becoming the land of misfit coaches?

Kiffin, Kiffin's brother, and now Briles. This is an NCAA investigation waiting to happen.

C'mon guys... I actually think it's a good hire. Offense will be very high powered with a balanced offense and so, Just get to 8 or 9 wins in next two years... and all three will move on to bigger and better things.

It's a very good hire. Kendall Briles isn't Art Briles, and wasn't responsible in any way at all for the mess at Baylor.
Kiffin's brother, to my knowledge hasn't been implicated in the Ole Miss saga,
and Kiffin has only been implicated in helping Bama win National Championships.
I don't see an issue here either and agree with you.

Year's down the road, we might all look back at this as the beginning of a Superstar coaching staff. Or, we might look at it as the beginning of a train wreck

I agree with you guys, but it does also have that funny feel about it that says, this is going to spectacularly successful, or a spectacularly failure. Whatever happens here, it isn't going to be quiet or careful.

It is going to be fun to watch play out.

Based on info from someone fairly close to BU, Kendall has done nothing more than bump into a player at a high school event -- something all coaches do at one time or another. He was not involved in the inoperative/failed chain of responsibility that was the BU athletic department. I think LK is putting together an excellent staff that will recruit like gangbusters...which is the lifeblood of any program.

Why's that?
Really? Well, Kiffin seems to wear out his welcome everywhere and was pretty much considered to be a d-bag by everyone here until Saban hired him. Then there were only a few of us who would still admit to being embarrassed by Kiffy in Bama gear. The Briles guy is a Briles guy from Baylor. I assumed that said enough. I'm sure they will be offensive, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

I agree. These are great hires for FAU. Never in a million years could they get coaches like these. Both FAU and FIU have hired great coaches with "checkered" pasts. For their sake I hope it's worth it and doesn't cost more than the reward. The coaches will benefit. I hope the schools do too.

Name the last time the Raiders had been good under Al Davis...

Stop #1 Raiders:From their last SB win in 83 to 2011 they have been to playoffs 8 years, and have had 11 coaches. Lane has more wins at 5 than 2 other coaches that have been hired under the great Al Davis between that time period. Only Art Shell and Gruden have winning records in that time period as head coaches and Davis traded Gruden away for 2 draft picks to beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl the very next year. So it most likely wasn't all Lane at stop #1.

Stop #2 Tennessee: I chalk his leaving as more of a Lou Holtz's leaving Minnesota in that there are a few specific jobs that he would cut and run for. So I cant blame him for doing it, but I can for how he did it.

Stop # 3: USC: Haden was pressured by some very unrealistic donors and people in charge after his 2011 season.

Then there were only a few of us who would still admit to being embarrassed in Bama gear. .
FIFY

Seriously if you are actually "embarrassed" by who CNS gives the clip board to, then you probably aren't real excited about these last 3 years of Bama football.

The Briles guy is a Briles guy from Baylor. I assumed that said enough.
As others have said, Kendall Briles was not connected to the allegations.

. I'm sure they will be offensive, tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Only because you have a very slanted dialogue as well.

Kiffin is putting together a staff of second generation coaches' kids who are eager make a name for themselves - or rehab their names. They've got youth and energy in a recruiting hotbed. With some homegrown 2 and 3 stars, plus talented transfers like the kid from EMCC, they will do well in CUSA.

Are you saying that it doesn't matter what people do as long as they win? That's what it sounds like you are saying, and I do not share that opinion. Saban has kept Kiffy under control and kept him from embarrassing the university too much, but if you don't think I care about who represents my university then you are wrong. You are welcome to care only about winning if you like, but it's that belief that often gets programs and coaches in trouble. Also, acting like I can't support my university's football team unless I agree with every single thing the coach does is ludicrous. I think Saban is the best, but I haven't agreed with every thing he has done. It doesn't matter what I think, though, he gets paid a whole lot to run the program. I simply share my thoughts at times with other Bama fans. I've learned not to share too much most of the time, but when someone specifically asks me why I made a particular comment, I try to answer him.
