If the Sugar Bowl had never happened few would give OSU a chance.

Lightning in a bottle for OSU? Perhaps. Likely, even, considering the emotional level at which they played as well as the preparation OSU's staff likely made before / during the season (such as when games were canceled due to COVID).

But the SB showed how deadly OSU can be when everything is clicking.

I just don't know that anyone can keep up with Bama scoring, and I still believe no team that doesn't play on Sundays can stop this Bama offense.
The Sugar Bowl only proved to me what I’ve always knew.

1) Dabo is a moron and a Karen
2) Venerables is overrated
3) Day is a very good coach

Other than Field’s toughness I really don’t know what shocked me...

It's Dabo. It definitely can. He's become absolutely unbearable the past 3-4 years.
I know. I am keenly aware of Daboisms. I shouldn't get on Jessie. In fact...there are at least a dozen women on espn whom I would fire today were it up to me. Dabo has expended his grace somewhat I agree. I don't detest the man..but I agree that his unnecessary comments and team antics that their fans are proud of are a little distasteful sometimes. But again..There are times when I mute Jessie...i thought he was pretty good as a QB...and just get sick of the delivery of thst style I guess. JMO. Go Bama😎

OSU will be very confident coming into this game, after the whooping they put on Clemson. Confidence is lethal if the focus is right. I know getting revenge was big, really big, for them. Can they snap back in a week and re-focus for Bama? Another dynamic to consider.
Agree. A factor that cannot be ignored..but same can work for us...film will show a winning effort..but it will also show Surtain allowing a TE to catch a ball when je wss turned around with no clue where the ball was. Just saying...ss good as overall play was...In playing good teams..plays like that may lose the game. Our guys could also have played better with even more focus. The media thought Bama would blow ND out. Hard to ignore all that noise as a player.

I will say I'm hoping we have a more aggressive gameplan on defense than we've had against Fla or ND....

Because the 'mush-rush' 4-0-7 defense will get TORCHED by Fields.

Our LB's just do not fare well in prevent. We absolutely HAVE to get pressure on Fields.... we don't have to sack him... but we can't let him sit back and throw in rhythm or let him take off running picking up 3rd down conversions because the back 7 is trying to 'prevent' something.

If we play that same ole same ole 'SAFE' Defense as our Base then our Offense will have to score TD's every single possession.

That's a lot of pressure to put on the Offense.

If our DC really is some kind of Prodigy, then now is the time to show it.

I know that...but will it be Monday when it's supposed to be...or are we going to play with the rules again?
If we’re going to play the “defend the message board rumor” game then what about Clemson’s outbreak and the fact that they stopped testing well ahead of the CFP semifinal? We’re playing what-if, so if Clemson played positive players and got a lot of Buckeye players positive as a result, does it still become an issue of dodging the planned date just to cynically heal up a quarterback who got speared hard on a targeting ejection?

Clemson's gross...I wouldn't compare my team to theirs ever...and he did get speared, it was awful, but you can't change a game for that.

IMO this would help Alabama more than the Bucks. Alabama is unbeatable with a fully healthy Waddle. Every day that passes gets him closer to that mark.
Agreed. Getting Fields closer to 100% would be helpful but getting Waddle back completely changes the dynamics of the game. Waddle is just a different kind of threat that we don't really have without him.

I’m saying that if the rumors of postponement for contact tracing or positive testing are true, they likely could be as a result of the CFP opponent playing positive players and causing the outbreak on the team. It wasn’t ever about Fields, as far as the Buckeyes are concerned- he was and still is expected to play Monday.
FWIW it’s not useful to put stock in Twitter or message board rumors since they are often created to get clicks and followers. Like Pollack’s tweet stating that his sources told him Sark declined UTs HC offer, disproven hours later.

Not sure how we know he's getting closer to 100% when Day didn't (doesn't have to ) disclose anything. He took a shot 4 days ago that would have literally killed 90% of us on TFs...Waddle will absolutely change things, but we set records without him...Fields is the straw that stirs their drink...

I don't know. This is a team sport. Coach has said over and over again how much he loves this team and seems they are a really tight group. We went through an all SEC schedule like a hot knife through butter. There is one more game. Talent wise, it is a level playing field. But I believe Bama gets the win here fellas.

Just my opinion, but I'll say it again. Bama without Waddle set records....tOSU w/out a 70% or more Fields is in trouble.
Waddle could be the Heisman winner this year if he had not been injured. He is impossible to defend. He is faster than Smitty, has hands like Smitty, but is far more elusive than Smitty. Getting him back would make the entire offense better. I am not talking about stats - I am talking about making it impossible to use a safety in run support or to blitz. If Alabama gets Waddle back at anything near full strength, I just don't see how we beat you no matter how well Fields plays.

Agreed and TY for that...On the other side. I don't see how tOSU wins with an injured Fields? I'm not arguing anything, just saying that we HAVE performed without Waddle at a record pace. You haven't, and I would assume don't want to find out how tOSU is with an injured Fields...or without him at all.

I think one thing ALABAMA needs to do is consult with Ohio State on "How To Hire A Good Coach" - because it seems to me the Buckeyes have hit three straight home runs:
Tressel
Meyer
Day

And John Cooper was NOT a bad choice when they hired him nor was Earle Bruce. Bruce was victimized by a game that was changing to reduce the huge edge the Blue Bloods once had.....and Cooper was a notorious choker in the big game, but he beat everybody else.

They've done MUCH better than we have since 1978 at hiring head coaches.

I agree - if Fields cannot run the ball, we will not win.

we only missed the spread by a point or two. add in the fact that we obviously intentionally slowed the game and played vanilla for 30 minutes and the fact of the matter is that we did blow ND out. we could have scored 3 more TDs if that was what we really had wanted to do.

We can thank Meyer for Day. From the day he stepped on campus, we knew that we had a head coach running our offense. Meyer leaving so soon afterward meant that we didn't lose him to another program.
