No, a Mississippi State fan didn't shiv after the game.

No, Taylor Fortinberry has decided to retire the character that was JT Bowtie and direct his time and energy into other pursuits. Apparently, there was a physical altercation at the Miss St game, and this caused him to realize that people were taking this way too seriously.

I, for one, am going to miss the JT Bowtie videos. I thought they were hilarious, and anyone who couldn't realize that it was a joke and and the person they were watching was so over the top that it must be a caricature, probably thinks Dana Carey is really the church lady and believes Santa Claus is Satan.

When did everyone get so serious? Am I the only one out there that can take a joke? Or even realize that someone is joking?

His last message is one that all fanatical football fans should hear...
Dittos. I have a great respect for the young man after hearing this.

And frankly, the same thought (what if I put the same time and energy into something that really matters for life and eternity?) has caused me to take several "vacations" from Tidefans ... and I still question whether my passion for Bama football is way overdone in relation to its importance in the grand theme of things.

Didn't mean to get sermonic, but I appreciate the guy's message.

Yep, football is small in the grand scheme of things. My brother's going to Afghanistan has reinforced that for me and how important family life is. It's always been a high priority for me. But with him going to a combat zone, it's made it even more important.

Good message.

Halfway through the Mississippi State game last weekend, I turned to a friend and said "Can you believe 60,000 people showed up in Starkville, Mississippi to watch a couple of kids run around with a ball?"

It's crazy how fanatical we get and borderline sad how seriously we take it. I know I'm as guilty as anyone.

Good Message Fortinberry.

Good message. We all need to remember sometimes that these are kids playing a game that involves getting a leather ball from one end of the field to the other. I do love it, but its a game.

I happen to know this kid and he'll get no sympathy from me. He is much similar to "JT Bowtie" than this video. To say he is vain would be an understatement.

I say JT don't stop until the season is over ;) jk...

The process is above superstition. I learned how to not make a loss ruin my weekend my freshman yr at Alabama (Mike Shula's freshman yr of coaching). Let's not make it more than it is. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

There was a time when I took the game way too seriously. But 8 years ago, I lost a 2 year old daughter and things changed. College football is fun to watch again but it doesn't decide if it's a good year or a bad year for me. I just recently recommitted my life to God but that isn't what caused the ebb in enthusiasm for sports. I had just lost so much of my love for life. The decision to give God the pain and allow myself to heal is what has made my life better.
I have to admit, I didn't like bowtie guy the first time I saw him, and there are some Gators fans I'm sure I'd feel the same way about. But it's good to see someone realize that it's just a game.
If it's more than that to you, thats fine because it's your life. I don't judge you for that, I just hope you are putting forth the effort to love those around you and improving the quality of life for others.
That being said ROLL TIDE AND GO GATORS!
