Time to give CNN a little bit of credit here. I am OK with “car plows into crowd” to shorten the title just so long as you hit it immediately going into the story. They did here - And much of their initial report was correct, once they could ensure the driver didn’t meet their “oppressed group” criteria. But at least they got it right immediately for once.

With all the attention around Shedeur Sanders' draft fall, cries of "racism" have followed, and the media has jumped in to ensure that narrative gets pushed over other opinions. Look no further than ESPN's NFL page, where an article by a black writer who claims the root of the fall was basically racism is given a huge space, while another article written by a black writer who thinks Sanders' fall had nothing to do with racism is given a barely recognizable slot. But when you read both articles, you'll realize why one was given more space than the other. One pushes racism while the other claims, "He just isn't that good".

They still can't get it straight as these run on the same day:

Now that he's not working for CNN, he can tell the truth.....which kinda makes the point so many of us made years ago:

Cillizza said there is a very high bar to directly report that Biden had dementia or some similar condition, which he believes wasn't met.

I will defend the press on the above; a medical diagnosis like that you CANNOT do. He's right. But...

And I think that had it been a Republican in that office, particularly if that Republican had been Donald Trump, there would have been less credulity. There would have been less willingness to just go along with what the Trump White House was saying,,,

BINGO!!!

We've known this since at least 1992, when Eleanor Clift went on "The McLaughlin Group" and said that the press was going lighter on Clinton than when they butchered Gary Hart "because they like Clinton and what he has to say." And about the same time it got out that one of the magazines (I think it was New Republic but don't quote me) polled their staff and 100% were voting for Clinton.

"Oh, but you're just a whiny conservative seeing conspiracies not there." I never said there was a conspiracy - because there never needed to be one. And anyone who could not see the slant in coverage years ago was just not paying attention or was liking what the media was saying because it was there - though again to be fair not as prominent as it became.

But in response we got this denial of reality from "F. Chuck Todd":

Former NBC host Chuck Todd passionately claimed that the media "didn't miss the story" of former President Joe Biden's mental decline while speaking with former CNN commentator Chris Cillizza on his Substack on Monday. Todd asserted that the alleged cover-up of Biden's mental decline was "not a media failure," but rather "a failure of the Democratic Party." The former "Meet the Press" host detested the "virtue signaling" that has allegedly been carried out to show that the media missed the story on Biden's worsening mental acuity. "I just refuse to accept this stupid premise because it's a right-wing manufactured, right-wing premise, in order to stain the media." While he did admit that there were "MSNBC and CNN" pundits that "absolutely carried water for Joe Biden," Todd claimed these pundits were not journalists, and rather "former strategists that carried water for Joe Biden."

So if you're following:
a) the media didn't miss the story
b) it's the Democratic Party's fault that the media missed the story they didn't miss
c) it's the fault of the right wing that the media is being accused of missing the story he claims they didn't miss but is also the fault of the Democratic Party

So apparently the right-wing and the Democratic Party CONSPIRED to make this happen, and it's never the media's fault.

Although that begs the question since Todd himself cited former strategists of Biden.......whom exactly hired people who worked for Biden to give commentary in the first place? Uh, the media....

And we're back to an excuse my best college friend (a journalist) gave me years ago, the old "columnist not a journalist." OK, but you folks need to be telling me this BEFORE you get caught lying.

Give me the names of the objective, impartial journalists NOW - before the next instance of "let's slant the news in favor of the guy we like" comes up again.

==============================

Cillizza admits what was obvious to everyone. But I surmise that if he was still employed with CNN, he likely wouldn't be so honest about it.

When the #1 pick in the draft was an African-American QB, the charges of racism seem a little hollow.

The NFL draft process is somewhat similar to a job interview. Shedeur basically blew off some of those with NFL teams, and came off as arrogant and entitled.

You can get away with that with other skill positions, especially if you are extremely-talented, but the NFL doesn't usually cater to head cases at the QB position. I can list a lot of college QBs who never caught on with the pros due to personality flaws, bad habits, etc.

Just isn't that good isn't accurate either. If he would have participated in the East West Bowl, combine, interviewed well, and had some humility he would have been a top 2nd-3rd round pick with ease. The reality is he did none of the above. Talent or ability was the least of his downfall. With that being said, he isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is and I'm yet to see that getting better as the game of football isn't very high on his priority list.

It rings hollow when one of the teams that desperately needed a QB passed on him EVERY TIME, and the head coach of that team is black (Pittsburgh). The bottom line is, the guy got passed over because his attitude, his dad's attitude, and his talent isn't good enough to justify putting up with him and his family, so he dropped like a rock. But the media doesn't like that reality, so they push the article that cries racism.
