The Decline of the DNC IV

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

It may just be me but l’m thinking sending text messages musing about killing the House Speaker in a race for Attorney General is really, really bad. Especially when with all of the “restrained from the left” tributes on Charlie Kirk(and l get that), this was Republicans actually giving glowing tribute to a democrat.

Jerrauld “Jay” Jones, the Democratic nominee for Virginia attorney general, sent text messages to a state lawmaker in 2022 describing a hypothetical scenario of shooting the Republican speaker of the Virginia House and discussing urinating on the future graves of other political opponents, according to screenshots of the messages reviewed by The Washington Post.

“If those guys die before me I will go to their funerals to **** on their graves. … Send them out awash in something,” Jones wrote to Republican House Del. Carrie Coyner, in a text thread that suggested his messages were initially intended for someone else, according to the screenshots of the conversation.

Jones then mused about a scenario in which he had two bullets and could choose to fire them at Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot — the brutal Cambodian dictator — or then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R).

“Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time,” Jones wrote, according to the screenshot.

Mom always says not to speak ill of the dead. Simple advice and it works. She also says that sometimes you should not speak or otherwise annotate what you are thinking.

It is most bad that he thinks so poorly of his rivals, but also telling is his stupidity in not realizing that the digital world preserves everything.

In the least surprising news possible, we are getting the “I condemn his remarks but this election is too important to let the Republican win, let’s quote the Bible.”

Look, I “get” it. But when you’ve spent a decade musing “why won’t republicans stand up to Trump” when some did and lost their careers, you’re not any better or different if you can’t say the words “a person who wants to kill the (now former) Speaker with bullets is not fit to run on our ticket,” you’re NOT any better than Trump.

Especially in the light of the killing of the Minnesota House speaker not long ago. Yeah I know the GOP blamed Tim Walz, but good luck blaming this guy’s texts on Youngkin.

I’ll give Jones credit on one thing: he didn’t go with “I was hacked.”

Funny! Mom also likes to say that if you are having to quote the Bible to support your actions, you should probably think again.

Force always wants to use force. That's why peaceful protest is so important but not as effective now. But nowadays everything is performative and shills infiltrating each other's side. Peaceful protests become deadly events. That's what force wants.

Wow. Democrat Mayor of Chicago refuses to answer a simple question about an illegal who bashed a woman’s head into the sidewalk & raped her.

“If that had been your wife, would you want ICE to deport that rapist illegal?”

Should be a simple answer

Many politicians are downright evil, on both sides.

Being unwilling to simply acknowledge this piece of excrement shouldn't be allowed to stay here, he plays political games. Just evil.

Thankfully his career is nearly over. People didn't think it could get worse than Lightfoot, but they have found out. NEVER say, "It can't possibly get any worse." History has shown that it most definitely can.

Abigail - if rhetoric like “murder” has no place in the Commonwealth of Virginia, why can you not simply say, “Jay Jones needs to withdraw”? The answer, of course, is Abigail doesn’t give a rip one way or the other about murder or rhetoric, she just wants the Democrat to win. Which is fine, but quit doing crap like this.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A North Carolina state representative is scheduled to appear in court Friday on child sex charges.

Cecil Brockman, a Democrat serving his sixth term in the N.C. House of Representatives, was arrested by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) and booked into the Guilford County Detention Center in High Point.

He faces charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape of a minor under the age of 15. Brockman represents Guilford County in the legislature.

The title is hilarious given Mitt Romney (47%), Roy Moore, and Donald Trump all had....shall we say....."leaks" that undercut them (Hillary Clinton, too).

I understand politicians are "just people," and I understand we live in a really easy time to blow someone up with a video. But there's context, too. Jones's texts are bad, but it's a case of where it's in the wake of the killing of Charlie Kirk, the shooting of Trump last year, the "second attempt" on Trump, and yes, even the horrible tragedy that killed the Minnesota House Speaker and her husband and dog. In other words, people may have always uttered things they shouldn't say, but there's a time when it has more power to destroy than it does at other times. (When I cover 1968 on the "Polls" thread, there's the blunt reality that the killing of Bobby Kennedy resulted in an incredible rise in the polls of George Wallace as the "tough on crime" candidate. That's not spin, it's not opinion, it really happened that way).

Having said that, I question whether Porter was ever going to win anyway. Jones, that's a different story, and methinks if he does win that he'll be told to plan to not run in four years.
