I can’t believe some of the stuff I’ve seen about our new coach and staff. It comes across as very Auburn-ish. Let’s be honest, if we were 6-0 right now, not one word would be said about his game day attire, his style of discipline, etc. These things weren’t even mentioned until we lost.

There is only one Saban and he ain’t coming back Our AD went out and got us a top tier coach. Let’s get behind him and understand that he is going to have his own way of doing thing and it may take more than a year or two to get to where we expect to be.

Fans griping about dumb stuff 6 games in are the reason we ended up with Dubose. Let’s not repeat.

The standard at Alabama is competing for national championships, and there's no need to apologize for that. While we're not completely out of the race, losing to Vanderbilt usually signals more losses ahead. With the way things are going, it's no surprise Bama fans are unhappy. And there should be no calls demanding that other Bama fans show a form of toxic optimism.

If we were 6-0, it would probably show we're on track, but sitting at 4-2 with losses to Vanderbilt and a struggling Tennessee team makes it clear that something's not right.

Still, DeBoer should get 3-4 years, and we don't want to rush through coaches like we did with the Dubose's of the game. Even if I could, I wouldn't consider letting him go this year. The frustrating part is we likely won't know how good he is until the end of next season.

This season should be seen as a freebie, though it's hard for fans to have no expectations. I mean, why watch? But what if he doesn't "find his recruits" by next year? We could be looking at 2-3 very rough seasons, and no Bama fan should be happy about that.

For the most part, I agree. We shouldn’t turn our back on Bama expectations. Those expectations push towards greatness. However, I’m not in total agreement that two losses mean something is wrong. It may just signal a new coach playing with recruits that aren’t his. I’m not sure but it may just take a bit more time.

Appreciate the discussion.

If Alabama was 6-0 there wouldn’t have been 15 penalties and jump shots in yesterday’s game.

Let’s dive into this S v. D for a second. Do you seriously think Saban is the way he is because he wants to be, or because that’s the most successful way to handle young men? If Saban could’ve gotten the same results but been more player friendly, I guarantee you he would have. These growing adults need structure to show them how to be successful, what it takes to win. If these young adults could be counted on to bring that to the discussion without outside help dynasties like USC and Miami would’ve never fallen in college football. The bottom line is player friendly coaching dynasties don’t last long in college football. Professional players remain dedicated because their pay is directly tied to performance, these crazy NIL deals aren’t. There’s no motivation for these young guys to stay focused on what gets them the paydays.

Saban’s entire career was built on establishing good habits to create value for these guys after college football. That’s why he was successful: talented players dedicated to learning to get better to reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Now the rainbow’s at their feet. Without the structure of establishing good habits to create value these guys are floundering around, kicking footballs, throwing helmets, and doing everything they can to not succeed.

How do we know beyond conjecture what type of Discipline is happening under DeBeor, besides Ice Cream trucks? I wish some the insiders would share what they know about what is going on so that we can all be on the same page. Before you say it's evidence in their play, I need some evidence beyond that statement. I'm not trying to be flippant about it, but I need some eyewitness proof besides Josh Pate.

I don't necessarily believe DeBoer must be Saban but there are a lot of things that Saban did that should be put in place at every program if that program wants to improve. For example, "Let's just be 1-0 this weekend" may feel good for the player and the coach who doesn't want to be stressed out and wants to "go with the flow", but we all know this won't translate into many wins.

Of course, "let's just be 12-0" doesn't work either. These are purely results oriented which doesn't usually work in a highly competitive type of environment where literally everyone wants to be 12-0.

Instead of wishing for results, I believe systems work better. At this point, in either of their tenures at Alabama, Saban had a system in place and let us know about it. We're having a difficult 2007? Fine. We all knew Saban was a winner. I wasn't sure of course that Bama in 2008 would go 12-0 in the regular season but I knew it was going to be a lot better than 6-6.

As far as DeBoer goes, perhaps he has a system but he hasn't given the slightest bit of details about it and with the results so far, I can only believe no such thing exists for he and his staff at this point. I am hopeful though, we'll see some good out of him.

All coaches have different philosophies. He is not going to have Saban's philosophy and that we need to get used to in order to save ourselves a lot of stress.

Well thankfully, this is just football.

No one should have any real life stress over it. Obviously if we're all in the military and fighting real battles, we wouldn't hand-wring over our General's short-comings to this degree but hopefully we all do this for fun. I know I do.

I enjoy the game immensely even when I'm bleeding all over the place about it. 🤣

You may want to have a gander at this thread to help with the points you made in this thread while posting this week.

Good points on this topic

Live look at where Bama is right now ... tied with Sunbelt Billy. No SUNSHINE Bama fan who believes Bama should be playing for NC's can be happy with this:
Fixed.

Coach Saban went 7-6 in his first year in Tuscaloosa. That loss to mighty powerhouse Louisiana-Monroe stung, didn't it? Maybe we should have fired him after the last game. Yeah, that'll teach him.

You can't possibly be serious. Kalen DeBoer took the Washington Huskies to the championship playoff last year, where they beat Texas, a team that beat us. Let that sink in.

We wound up with Dubose because so many demanded one of "Bear's Boys." Well, guess what? We actually have one of "Nick's Boys" and some people aren't willing to give him a chance.

This is more of a rant than making a point. But what the hey, I'm ranting too 🍻
To be fair, I believe Nick Saban was more of a proven commodity at that point and we knew a lot more even then that our "talent" was far more lacking than it is now. In fact, we had future felons on that team.

Recently CNS talk about how he had to change his approach when he was at MSU. He knew he had to change to what we now know as the process. CKD may soon realize that what worked at UW likely won't work in the SEC. He has half a season under his belt. I'm sure he has ability to look in the mirror and honestly assess his performance, and is willing to make a change.

I'll be happy when that happens.
