I wish every one would calm the heck down and take this "process" with baby steps.

We are going to lose to Auburn, finish 6-6 and end up in some lower class bowl but most importantly, we will see the departure of a senior class, that for the most part, doesn't give a damn.

We are going to have the #3 recruiting class.

Next year we are going to have some young guys step up but due to tough road games, we are going 7-5, 8-4.

The following year, the stud recruits are going to have some experience behind them and with a favorable schedule, we are going to have 9-10 wins and a New Year's Bowl game.

The following year, we will be preseason Top 10 and by the end of the year, we'll be playing for the SEC Championship and possibly a National Championship.

I wish some of you would sit back and let this "process" take its form. I know every one is hungry for a title, but it's not going to happen any time soon. Quit calling radio shows and showing your ignorance by questioning Saban. The man is a winner and he'll do wonders for Alabama if we let him. Roll Tide

Again, it goes back to unrealistic expectations. If our fan base constantly has unrealistic expectations, we'll never be satisfied.

By the way, in a poll on who will win the Iron Bowl poll, 40.71% said Auburn and 8.85% aren't even going to watch it.

Totally agree with you dude. The sad thing though is that not everyone is gonna chillax and just let the process take care of itself. CNS did win a SEC title in his second year, but I don't think he won the NC until his fourth year (I could be wrong though). I know that we're all extremely hungry to for a top-notch team but the truth is that there are tons, tons of factors that go into becoming a SEC champion, let alone a NC. Look at Florida this year. Many thought that they would be the East winner, hands down, even after they lost to LSU, despite the inexperience on defense. Now, the former defending SEC/NC team isn't even going to the SECCG a season after winning it all. It's going to take some time, some maturity, and frankly, some more losses.

I heard a great quote from one of the afternoon hosts on the radio yesterday that puts a lot of this in perspective...
"no SEC team is going to wait on us to catch back up"

We are light years behind these programs and we're not going to catch up over night.

I agree with you for the most part, but this past weekend was inexcusable.

Is it unrealistic to expect to beat ULM... are we that bad? No way.

With next year's schedule, I think 8-4 is realistic. After that depends on how well the talent comes along.

Great Post--Hate the Aubarn statement but reality hurts sometimes. Keep the right attitude and I will see you at the Georgia Dome in a few years!

I agree with the light years part and IMO, it all started TEN years ago. We've been going downhill everysince. Yea, we won the SEC in 99, and had two 10 win seasons, but overall, its been a downhill slide for us, while most of the conference has been moving uphill most of the time. We have alot of catching up to do.

I think it started with a signature on a napkin Jan 2 1993 :(

:iagree:

Except I think the BAMA team from the TN game shows back up and we beat the BARN, I hate we lost to ULM....I was there...with my family....screaming our lungs out for the Tide.....but a win over the Cow Dung Herders would make that all seem like a distant memory.

Even if that doesn't come true I know we have the right man to fix the BAMA program in CNS.

Nick's Way.......Or The Highway

GO NICK GO

Nick's Way.......Or The Highway

GO NICK GO

I totally agree with that statement. I was upset when we lost the last 2 games. If we loose the iron bowl, I won't hear the end of it at school because my best friend and my favorite teacher (have him 3 classes) are both AU fans. However, I'm not going to get my hopes up that we can beat them but maybe we can at least not loose by more than 7 points.

Praying that the Tide will be Rolling on Sat.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!! :BigA:

Bama is more than capable of beating barn. It just depends on if they show up, man up, and play like they have shown they are capable of playing.

Is it unrealistic to expect to beat ULM...

It's not unrealistic to expect it, but it's also not surprising for it to happen. You see it every year at places other than Alabama. If a better team makes too many mistakes, and lets the inferior team stay in the game until the end, bad things can and do happen. At the end of the day 5-6 turnovers are what lost this game; without them the score would have been something like 35-3. That's a lot even for a loaded team to overcome, and Bama isn't loaded with talent and depth. What I find unreal are the so-called fans acting like it's the end of the world; ready to throw the coach and all the players under a bus. With fans like those Bama doesn't need enemies. I wish they'd go ahead and pull their orange crap out of the closet and start wearing it; and I hope the idiotic statements don't stick in CNS' craw and cause him to bolt. I know I couldn't blame him if he did.

As far as Coaches attitude at press conferences, more power to him. These guys have been following him for months and in some cases years, and know exactly how he will respond to stupid questions, or questions about his commitment to excellence; yet they ask them anyway. I think some of them push his hot buttons on purpose for some reason or other; maybe they're masochists. Some accuse him of going overboard with his responses, but most of them bring it on themselves.

Coach Saban is passionate about winning, but he's also passionate about winning the right way; with ethical players who possess the right kind of attitude dedicated to doing their best all the time. Kids who understand and appreciate the opportunity they have been given to get an education; kids who have good values and make good choices. If they come into the football program with a "team first" mentality, and take the lessons to heart, they will definitely grow as people in ways that will help them long after football is over. If they don't they'll be riding the pine no matter how many stars they had coming out of High School. It's been WAY to long since we had a coach willing to hold players accountable, and if he isn't run off; Saban's way will lead our favorite team back to it's previous glory.

Sorry for the long post. I've been reading other boards for the last few days and finally got my fill of the stuff being posted on them by supposed Alabama fans. I feel much better now.

Roll Tide! Beat Auburn!!

You were not surprised that Bama lost to ULM?!?!?!?!?!? I realize that we dug ourselves a hole, however, point to a time when a bad team like ULM (and they are bad) beat a team like Bama. When UAB beat LSU, the Blazers had a very good team. The same when Bama lost to La. Tech (NFL talent and they won their conference) and No. Illinois (ditto). The truth is there is no excuse for losing to ULM. That said, I am not one of the knee jerk reaction fans. I think there is blame to go around for this game from the coaches to the players to the fans. I am not going to excuse a loss like this or say everything is ok when it is obviously not. A win over Awbarn shows this is an abiration. A loss tells you the team quit after the LSU game. Plain and simple.

RTR... Beat the Barn.

I agree with these comments, but do the "Textbook 5" fit into this category? I do not know all the details, but one detail I know for sure these 5 players let down their teammates and the coaches. Everyone is excited because they will be back for the AU game, we seem to overlook the qualities and values of the type players you say CNS wants if we can get them back for AU.

Well if La Monro can beat us I'd say we can beat Auburn.

Coach Croom before the Alabama game said whoever hits the hardest will win the game, and he was right, we do need talent, speed, power, etc... but to get back on an even field with the rest of the SEC we just need to play physical, we started out the year moving in that direction but got lost along the way.

Another thing yall might want to think about is how we recruit these days, the summer camps are all that when it comes to recruiting, and they are all different, Shula's camps were very different from the ones Nick Saban runs which by all accounts is the toughest summer camp, these camps are going to draw a different kind of guy than Shula's camps, so the personality of this team will change substantially over the next two years.

I'm not going to sit there and say we will win this and that, or whatever, I'm not interested in that sort of thing, I am interested in our team playing hard, playing physical, never quitting, stomping mid majors into a pool of goo, sending quarterbacks to the sideline with concussions, continuing to dominate Tennessee and beginning to Dominate Auburn, all the rest of that stuff will take care of itself if we do those things, and you don't need 5 star players across the board to do that.
