The official Top 3 coaches we should pursue thread

I propose we go to Stoops and put a blank check in front of him. We then say write down whatever number you want. How would you also like to be AD and why not governor as well? Name your price but dear God come save our football program.

P.S. to be realistic how about
1. Paul Johnson
2. Paul Johnson
3. Not Jim Grobe

Paul Johnson is a great coach and knows football. He is from the Navy, just like the Bear. And he has the name of the Bear which also happens to be a Saint's name.

Didn't miss it, I just don't believe we'll get one.
In the '91 (?) bowl game against Colorado, the offesne struggled in the first half, in large part due to some screwy playcalling by one Mal Moore.

Shortly before the half ended, some kind of toss sweep ended up with a mass of players plowing out of bounds, clocking Mal in the process. In the second half, play calling was completely different, and we proceeded to stomp the Buffaloes into the cold cold ground, setting the stage for next year's championship run. The running joke during the off season was taht Cuury and Copland should be tasked w/ blindsiding Mal prior to each game.

Perhaps someone should smack Mal upside the head before the search resumes. Perhaps then he'll realize that for certain coordinators--and I'd say Jimbo Fisher and Norm Chow certainly qualify--HC experience should not be required.

If it's offense we want, why not try to lure June Jones away from Hawaii? He's had some of the most productive offenses over the last several years.

After what has happened, IMO we are 0-1. Face it guys, Spurrier and Saban were never realisitc candidates, they had nothing to prove to anyone or themselves, they didn't need the money so why put up with what they would have to by going to Alabama. Rodriguez was a realistic candidate, he had something to prove and the money was good, but he had his reasons for staying at WVU, I personally do not care what they were, but he made his decisions so let's move on.

I suppose the simpliest plan is to find a coach that wants to coach at Alabama and would perceive the Alabama job as a major step up in his career. I think these coaches would be receptive and view the Alabama job a major career move: Johnson, Kragthorpe, Tedford.

I have a perfect solution for you gentlemen. We have a head coach up here in Arkansas that we believe has taken our program to it's highest possible level. The only problem is that we feel our program, fans, and recruiting base cannot give Houston Dale Nutt the championships he so richly warrants. To put it bluntly, he's just better than we deserve.

SEC coach of the year, produced a Heisman candidate, good Christian man, recruited by Bear back in the day, run-heavy offense. What more could you want?

Although we as Razorback fans would hate to see him go, we recognize that this truly great man and offensive genious needs a program that matches his abilities. Enjoy him while you can. It's been fun Houston.

Tedford, Johnson, Krag . . . all good names.

Grobe: Sorry guys, but as a Carolina resident, the more I read about him and the more I watch his teams play, the more impressed I become. My one concern? Can he recruit?

Gruden: Almost went to Ohio State, almost went to Notre Dame. Why not us.

One good omen. Tressel was at least a third choice. If you count O'Leary, Weiss was at least fourth on the list at South Bend.

There's a stud still to be had.

ROFL!!!!! Great debut, Firehog. You must want to keep your offensive coordinator and a few up and coming players, huh?

Why does it always come down to some connection to Coach Bryant ? We all
know he was the greatest ever, but we need to let go. We cannot continue to
try to "replace" him with another Bear. It ain't gonna happen. I wonder how many potential coaches are turned off by Bama fans having such an obsession
with Coach Bryant ? We need to hire the best coach we can get, without him
having to have any connection to our program, or Coach Bryant. It's been nearly 25 years. I'd have thought we would have moved on by now, but obviously not.

Since we may be forced to change our scope, I think we have to look at some assistants. Norm Chow would be a good one. He was interested in the NC State job.
Mike Leach may be different but his Offensive philosophy could work with the right DC. (KINES)
If we choose to roll the dice on a younger guy who will probably be around for a while Steve Kragthorpe may be a good hire.

Who knows? Sherman looks good now.

Don't know about you but it is likely the next BIG coach will come from this list:

And you must know a bit about our little dysfunctional family up here. Please Jeebus, take Nutt from us. I will personally drive the UHaul down for him.
