Beat me to it, RTO.

Looks like it's first come, first serve between McElroy and Mustain. I've never thought Mustain was a realistic prospect for us though.

From the video I've seen he looks very impressive. Alot like JPW in high school. He put up really good numbers in 5A Texas football, which many people equate with DII college ball. His team won the championship and finished ranked #2 in the nation. Throws a good spiral and looks like he has pretty good arm strength. The level of competition he faced in HS was much greater than what Smelley faced, plus I haven't heard anything negative about his father. :p

He is only three star. Can someone give us the lowdown that makes this guy so special. Would he be a better catch than Smelley?
I watched the Texas 5A finals and Greg McElroy was very poised and accurate. Don't be fooled by stars .. in this case he looks as good as Tebow. Strong arm and accurate and he is mobile.

Well I am glad he's flattered that Coach offered him a scholarship to attend the University of Alabama and play quarterback.

Is there not an excellent quarterback prospect out there who wants to come to Tuscaloosa and get an education and be the quarterback for the University of Alabama? Good grief. I would jump at an offer like that. I'm just a little short on size, arm strength, and athletic ability. :)

Bama Offers McElroy
Scout.com three-star quarterback Greg McElroy was offered a scholarship by the University of Alabama following the Tide's Cotton Bowl win over Texas Tech.

"I spoke to Coach Mike Shula last night on the phone," said Greg McElroy. "We talked for a while, and he told me they had a scholarship for me."

"I was very excited they (Alabama) finally offered me," said McElroy. "Alabama is a great school with a rich tradition. They have had a great line of quarterbacks. It was fun watching Brodie this year. He was a great player and a great leader."

.......and is that worse that regular dial-up? Seriously, did winning the CB help our chances, or is MM out of the picture?
GM has been interested all along. The Cotton Bowl gave him an up close look at our offense.

MM has been "off the market" for a while. Now, he's open again but our contact with him has not been what it was with McElroy throughout the whole process.

This late in the game, there isn't enough difference between Mustain and McElroy to make this a wait it out situation a la Tebow. I think the staff feels that McElroy would be the most likely of the two.

It makes good sense to offer them both. Obviously Bama would be very happy with either McElroy or Mustain.

If he goes to Tech, he's behind a redshirt sophomore. If he goes to Bama, he's behind a true sophomore. By the time he plays at Bama, we'll be fully reloaded with plenty of Protho's, A.K.A playmakers, to go around. IMO, whichever weekend he visits, he commits before weekend is over.

So if GM commits, do we say "Thanks but no Thanks" to MM?
I think MM would figure out the score himself. If he is willing to go to Bama in that instance, then he would probably go to Notre Dame where his head, if not his heart, is anyway.
