Folks, I honestly believe that if we were to return a kickoff to win the game, it would be called back on a holding call. Its that bad.

You can say that we just arent executing, BUT you cannot over look the # of times we are gettin flagged for holding on crucial 3rd down conversions that jus STOP potential scoring drives dead in their tracks. It doest have to be a direct call at the end of the game to cost us. It's little things like this durin the game that stop drives. This isnt happening to the other team. If you think that doesnt affect the outcome of a game you are crazy.

You cant tell me those teams are just that much more focused, and NEVER hold, when I watch the same games and see our guys just get flat out tackled by their O line and a ref lookin right at it. Yet when we have the ball, crucial 3rd down, or big play I have to try my best to justify a holding call that I just dont see.

All I want is to have an evenly officiated game, and let the better team decide. This has got to be looked into, you are blind if you dont think its costing us games just because its not always TD's thats being called back. Although against GA 2 years ago, 2 TD's called back, and agaisnt ARK 2 TD's called back. How can this just be overlooked?

Zebras will not help KY like they did Ark and SC. Kentucky is not a conference favorite in football. They aren't going to a bowl game. And, maybe most importantly, the newspapers have started calling the SEC office to ask about the issue. I'll bet you lunch that the penalty calls are about even or maybe will favor Alabama slightly this weekend. Then Gaston can say, "See, it was just a fluke that Alabama's opponents got 5 yards of penalties in two games". The story will revert to form against TN, LSU and the Barn. BTW, this is not a new phenomenom. Go back and look at the tape/stats of the year UCLA came to Tuscaloosa. Not one penalty on UCLA if memory serves; not one.

"Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you."

Countrytider,
I agree with you 100%.I don't care if some folks might think that those holding these views are paranoid.Anyone who watched our games with Ark and SC should have seen the numerous non-calls that should have been made against them.I don't know if this is intentional on the refs part but it is a fact.

I still say that Shula can help in this by getting in the officials face . Coach Stallings used to do it and it does help. Of course they won't change a call, but it might help on the next ones.

SEC officials today...

...are without a doubt the worst in the country and the worst in SEC history! It's not paranoia, just plain and simple fact. Anybody who has not noticed the bias over the past several years is simply not looking. And you're correct LTBamaFan, if Shula gets in the official's face occasionally (like Stallings did), they might think twice about the next flag they throw against us on a key play.

At the Georgia game in 2002, I was sitting close to line of scrimmage when we picked up a fumble on UGA's first drive and ran it back close to their goal line. I looked at the field and line of scrimmage as soon as the fumble was picked up (because of "paranoia") and did not see a flag or an official blowing his whistle. When the play was over, I looked back at the line of scrimmage and an official was blowing the whistle and waving his hands standing over a flag. They called it back, saying Alabama was offsides. Georgia went on to score a TD quickly afterwards on that drive and eventually won the game 27-25.

This sort of thing has happened time and time again before and since then, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. And the rest of the Bamanation should be too.

I am with you man. I cannot stand to see an official in our stadium. Other games, you always here that the officials will fall on the side of the home team in close calls. BUT, not at Bryant-Denny. Here they are always on the visiting teams side...and even away games. I would not be able to coach knowing this and not have something to say.
