Would hate to see this thread if we were not winning games.
I kind of look at it like a platform to vent our feelings. I was here when we beat miss state on the road in 2015. We won by 24-25 points on the road against a ranked team with dak Prescott. We sacked him like 9 times. There were people complaining about the passing game. I am just saying. We complain because we love.Would hate to see this thread if we were not winning games.
I think all of us have seen enough football to know that if an team can make their opponet one-dimensional. then defeating them gets easier. Not guaranteed, but easier.Would hate to see this thread if we were not winning games.
Agreed with one caveat...KDB's passing game is different in that it is multi-layered. If the D responds with x then we do y. If they crowd the middle and the edges, then we deepen our routes. If they back off, we come underneath. If they drop 8, then we extend the play and keep moving. There is so much territory to defend in today's passing attack.I think all of us have seen enough football to know that if an team can make their opponet one-dimensional. then defeating them gets easier. Since the FSU game, Bama has not run into a team that was able to exploit the lack of a robust unstoppable running attack. The passing attack has been so strong, it has been able to compensate. Passing is a bit like the 3-point game in basketball. Live by the 3, die by the 3. When 3-point shooting goes cold, a team that relies exclusively on the 3, when 3-point shooting goes cold, they have nothing left to fall back on. Likewise, if all Bama has is the passing attack, and Ty has a bad throwing day, the running game might not be strong enough to overcome that.

Would I prefer a solid running game? Yes, and DH seemed to bring that. JM was injured and should not have been playing...
I am REALLY intrigued with DH’s game. He can move a pile AND seems to have something of a burst. Not saying that he can outrun some 190 lb DB in the open field ( What if he could?! That would be freaksville! ), but I like what I’ve seen so far.Agreed with one caveat...KDB's passing game is different in that it is multi-layered. If the D responds with x then we do y. Watching Daniel Hill run in the 4th quarter has me holding out hope that we may can get some sort of a productive running going headed into the second half of the season.
But I still cannot understand why our line cannot move bodies. Are we physically weak (strength wise), do we have guys with bad technique, are we lacking on the coaching level for that position, etc?
We definitely have room for improvement in the run game but I found this interesting:
Run defenses Alabama has played the last four games:
Georgia - 11th - giving up 91.9 ypg (Bama rushed for 117)
Vanderbilt - 12th - giving up 92.1 ypg (Bama rushed for 146)
Missouri - 7th - giving up 83.9 ypg (Bama rushed for 125)
Tennessee - 54th - giving up 133.7 ypg (Bama rushed for 120)
Yep, and I get the feeling this staff is still feeling their way through the grind that is SEC football week in and week out. History suggests that they can make the adjustments given such a winning percentage so I hold out hope that these guys are burning the midnight oil working on this running game problem. We've done enough to keep defenses honest. We've been so conditioned (by Saban and our running back history) to have 1,000 yard backs who churn out 150+ yards/game on a consistent basis that anything less than that seems like something is wrong.
