Danny Sheridan has my respect. He's one of the rare college football experts who actually does his homework before posting any crap on the internet. The reason, if I may assume, he picked us to finish the dead last is our lack of depth in key areas. It's a known issue that without a good depth on both O and D Line, you can only do so much.
Also, let's not kid ourselves - this team is young. This team has yet to proven its offensive proficiency against a quality SEC opponent, and the defense lacks the killer instinct. As with every other team that fields a lot of freshmen, we will be inconsistent. Inconsistency means both of above I just mentioned. Watch how our red zone offense works, or keep an eye on our defense in 3rd and short situations. Unless we master those two areas, our team will continue to be inconsistent.
I think Danny Sheridan has all the reason to pick us dead last (even though I truly think that we can at least beat out Arkansas and Miss St). Our fate of the entire season, once again, is depending on injuries. Lack of quality depth is the key here.
On a bright side, our first unit is as good as any in the SEC and can compete with them barring no injuries. But then again, tell me when was the last time that Bama went through a whole season without an injury to any of the first teamers. We can only hope and pray. Another thing to look out for is Brodie Croyle. I really think that the Bama nation will be surprised to see how much he has improved since last year.
