For Carl Torbush, it was time to come home.
After spending 20-plus years as one of the top defensive minds in NCAA Division I football, the Carson-Newman alum announced Wednesday that he is returning to his alma-mater to join Eagle head coach Ken Sparks’ staff for the 2006 season.
Torbush, a 1974 graduate of Carson-Newman, will hold the title of assistant head football coach and linebackers coach.
“When I left Carson-Newman over thirty years ago, In my heart, I felt like some day this is where I would end up,†Torbush said in a press conference held on Roy Harmon Field at Burke-Tarr Stadium.
